I worked at a McDonalds for 5 years, I can tell you they are not lieing to you. IT is much eaiser to make the milksake than to listen to a customer complain. The reason is (I know that McD's and Wendys use the same machine) that the mix is stored in the machine each night. Then machine heats up to 150 and back downto kill any bacteium for about 3 hours. SHould anything go wrong, such as a power out, or the cycle gets interrupted for any reason, the machine will lock and require that the mix get thrown out and the machine to get cleaned (about a 5 hour porcess to clean). The other possible cause is over use. Making too man shakes at a time can cause the main temperature to freeze, and since it is so low temp, it takes hours to thaw enough to use. Finally there is hardware falures such as a o-ring or line breaking, or a peice that comes undone (The machine is very complex, so usually only 2 or 3 know how to put it together, another reason it can be down for awhile)
