Don't know if this is related, but some site I went to about a month ago corrupted my IE6 browser, with the blank page for every link being the result. Norton didn't see anything wrong (Trojans), Spybot couldn't find anything, but Outlook Express stayed ok. 
Finally got so fed up that I went on a search & destroy mission in the registry. 
Deleted anything related to IE6. But of course, I went too far as now in my attempts to reload/reinstall IE6, it fails every time.
Resorted to loading and running Netscape, and am using that for now.

When was the last time you reformatted?? Sounds like something you may want to think about
