Well Im back, besides some scratchy feeling no biggy. Just gotta do the drops every hour for the first day then 4 times a day after that. That and these silly glasses so I dont rub my eyes at sleeping time. heh
No pain killers here, they didnt even offer them. From what I understood the first day is the most discomfort.
-9.5, wow. Ya, I dont blame ya for wanting the surgery. Hope things work out good for ya man. At -4.5 I couldnt even see the big E on the screen, now just 3 hrs later my eye sight Id guess is prob about the same as the other eye. 20/40 so not bad especially since it will get much better as teh weeks progress.
BRN, Ill keep ya updated, but as of right now I wouldnt even think twice about having it done again. Definitely worth it. |

Heh, 20/15 here, although how they actually grade the test is beyond me, I mean seriously, They aske me to read a little line near the bottom of the card, but I'm pretty damn sure I can read the one below it, but we never get that far cause apparently the Docs don't have time to do an indepth test.
As for me being back, weeeeeeeeeeell, not really. I'm on the road for a few weeks visiting some of my old Marine friends in various places. Right now I'm sitting in Champaign Illinois waiting for my friend to fail her quiz on hardwood identification something or other (Landscape Architecture stuff, don't call it landscaping, she gets pissed!). Apparently, my next stop, next week is gonna be back to the D.C. area, as I have to go take a polygraph for meh new job. From there, it'll probasbly be off to Tx, then Co, then Ut, then NV and Ca to round it all off (And drop the truck off). I think right now (8:30 am), I'm gonna try and find a bar that's serving!
Sorry to hijack your thread blown, but I'm glad to hear you're not blind! _________________ Under construction!!! |

Went from glasses in my teens to contacts 20 years ago. Stayed with them until 6 months ago, now back to glasses.
I wonder if that procedure works on us old farts? _________________ Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell.

Umm, they're not going to ask you any questions about how good you are in TFC are they? _________________ Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell.

Im sure they do. Not sure how old ya are but I know a guy here in town that got it done and he has to be 50 or so and is very pleased. Only thing they say is you may need reading glasses afterwards, but you can also opt for having one eye corrected slightly near sighted and may decrease your need on reading glasses. |

Yeah, I have been looking at this for a while too. My understanding is that there are two possible downsides (and that may not be the right way to say it, since one is totally natural). First, they are fixing to your distance vision and if you are getting older you might not be able to switch from near to distance as well as when you were younger. Apparently, you gradually lose the range between the two as you get older. So when they fix your distance vision, you might find you can't see close objects as well anymore. But it is still better to wear reading glasses sometimes than regular glasses all the time.
Second, in some cases people have dry eyes afterward. This one is a drag for me, since I have this now. My eyes are so dry I had to quit wearing contacts. But I think it is a fairly rare occurence with Lasik, so I am waiting to learn more about it. Maybe the dry eye people rub their eyes too soon after surgery or something stupid like that.
But yeah, the vision improvement can be very dramatic and the people I know who have done it are very happy about it.
Good luck blown and JCOM!
