Hmm, i fi right click on CS:CZ is says "start preloading". maybe you guys had your firewall set to always allow Steam access.
either way though @ them just for making another CS when they should be focusing on HL2! _________________

Actually, CZ has been in the making for quite some time now. You might say it's another one of the "most anticipated games" of the year. CZ also involves a single player mode if I'm not mistaken, which means that I might just buy it. _________________

I think the single-player is all it's good for. And I heard it isn't such a great game. _________________

Stupid steam, it installed both CS and CS:CZ, and I do not want either on my computer. I thought there was a law that you had to ask the user before downloading any software. I will have to reread the agreement _________________ http://www.barbertonrhps.com - The offical Website for Barberton's West Theater Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ohio

Well, I be damned. You are absolutely right, now I have CZ installed I managed to stop the installation of CZ:CZ , but it seems Steam was already a culprit.

I wish I had saw that. Good thing I am not still on the laptop since now Vavle may install any of its stuff on your computer, but not let you use it. It now has installed about a gig with of data it would appear on my computer. Sadly I can not find the "preloaded" data to get rid of it. so we get to look forward to Vavle filling our hard drives with junk when every they fell like it _________________ http://www.barbertonrhps.com - The offical Website for Barberton's West Theater Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ohio

You all need to get some facts straight.
1) With the last update there was a pop up explaining that CZ would be preloaded unless you disabled it. I read the pop up and disabled it very easily.
2) Valve loaded nothing on your computer without your permission. You are bound by there subscriber agreement. If you dont like it stop using their free product to play their free games.
3) There are websites that upload malicious code and spyware to peoples pc's without them knowing. How bout suing them before suing a company that you agreed to let have access to your HD.
Have any of you stopped to think why valve would preload part of a game to your PC?[/quote] _________________ All comments are not nessasary those of the author so should not be taken as so.

PWT,
My Quote comes from the Subscriber Agreement, not from forums. And it states that by installing Steam on yout system you agree to let them preload any steam related program. Which means that they will not be asking for our permission (When I got the pop up it only asked if I wated to preorder, which I said no, and it still preloaded it, and fully loaded normal CS). So before you tell me that I have MY facts wrong, read the Offical Subscriper Agreement (http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=subscriber_agreement, my quote comes from the 1st paragraph, Thrid line) Let me repost that so that everyone can see that.
| Steam Subscriber Agreement wrote: | SOFTWARE LICENSE
Steam and your Subscription(s) require the installation of the Steam client and the automatic download of software, other content and updates thereto onto your computer ("Steam Software"). You may not use Steam Software for any purpose other than the permitted access to Steam and your Subscriptions. You understand that Steam may automatically update, pre-load, create new versions or otherwise enhance the Steam Software and accordingly, the system requirements to use the Steam Software may change over time. You understand that neither this Agreement nor the terms associated with a particular Subscription entitles you to future updates, new versions or other enhancements of the Steam Software associated with a particular Subscription although Valve may choose to provide certain future updates, new versions or other enhancements of the Steam Software in its sole discretion. |
You willl also note that the first sentence clearly states that we are required to download Updates, Software and other Content ("Steam Software"). Vavle has made it clear that they may install what every they want with our without your direct permission (Since the agreement states that be installing steam you give them permission to istall anything steam related). This means that we have basically given our hard drives to Vavle when we istalled steam. While in some cases it may not be to bad, like the HL2 release when (if) it ever comes. How ever I did not want CS or CS:CZ and it did preload both of them.

| LOL Shaft, you make it sound like we have options here. Ya, we can play won but that probably wont be much longer I wouldnt think. So I think we can bitch about Steam preloading crap on our computers reguardless of what the dumb users agreement says. |
