I guess I'm bilingual when it comes to drinks. I understand soda, pop, coke, soft drinks, etc. I usually call it a drink...

If i order a drink at a place I'll just call it what they do. Usually its a beverage.

I don't get how you can call it coke. Dr. Pepper is a pepsi product anyway. It just doesn't make any sense. No wonder you guys elected Bush to be the first governor in texas history to have back to back terms. Shame.

Guys I know you are new here but there is a long standing rule about posting about politics or religion. Now lets not make every post a political one or they will start disappearing.
Thank you

Pfff...pop is the stupidest name in the world for a drink, period. I use the terms soda and coke, and also understand soft drink.

This one guy in my school calls it pop, and whenever he does it makes me think he's gay. Pop also sounds like a sexual term.

"Hey there big boy, would you like to give me a pop?"
"Mmm, you pop so well!"
"My girlfriend and I popped all last night."

And, of course....

"I'd pop it!"

We don't like to call it soda in Minnesota because with our accent it just sounds horrible.

And you can make just about anything sound sexual.

Carl's Jr. Employee: Welcome to Carl's Jr. How may I help you?

Me: Yeah, I'd like a Western Bacon cheeseburger.

Them: Anything to drink?

Me: Yeah, I'll have a Coke.

Them: And what kind of coke would you like?

Me: Ummm, Dr. Pepper

Them: That'll be 4.59, please pull up to the window.

See? Easy!

I'm talking about not having to use a lot of physical motions or voice inflictions though. To me, just simply saying "pop" sounds like a sexual term (don't ask me why). However, try making "sky" sound sexual in various situations anyway

Actually that's not true. Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up is its own company, owned by Cadbury Schweppes. Schweppes sells bottling rights to many different companies, including Coke and Pepsi bottlers. That's why you'll see a Pepsi bottler's name on a Dr. Pepper can in one place, and a Coke bottler's in another. Strange, eh?

That is strange.

It is good to know that coke and pepsi do not own everything!
