Sorry if my post came off as preachy, or even whiny. I can whine all day to myself about the downfalls of online gaming. It was more or less posted as a something to think about.
I support the Ville because of all the too many to count servers I've played on, cheaters don't run amok. I'm not saying that they're not here, just that their careers seem short-lived.
The Ville is that kind of community where when your character gets blasted to the four winds, and your crying a river back in respawn, you can at least know it was because the other guy had more skill, not better cheats.
The end of my post I asked "What can we do to stop cheating?" In my own opinion make double sure the guy you're P.O.ed at for fragging you ten times in a row, is actually cheating. Crying wolf too many times will lead to a deaf ear by admins.
The gamers themselves can sometimes deal with cheaters in game themselves. Example: Last winter I was playing Avanti on a Ville server. Had a really good, close score game going. All of a sudden two guys show up from the lets call 'em the A-Hole clan(can't remember). They were TKing players, wall hacks, speed hacks, face it, they were hack central. Usually, players would have given up and jumped to another server.
Something interesting happened though. One of the guys from Blue Team chatted "Hey let's stop shootin' at each other and get those guys!" Red and Blue joined forces and commenced to fragging those two jerks for screwing up a good game. Did we accomplish anything? Well, they left and the game played on.

Oh, no, not at all. That was just me complaining. Yeah, i tend to complain a lot :/ Lag, dust in my eye, orange juice spilled in my lap, homework due the next day, ANYTHING can be a reason as to why you got me before I could get you :/ I apologize for criticizing

Ah, times like that is what makes The Ville great.

Of course, times like the Kilaak Invasion are not things that make The Ville great :/ I mean, I'd be skipping around the corner with my flag and suddenly i'd get jumped by three or four kilaaks all brandishing crowbars and scowling fiercely and they'd all be like

[FIST OF KILAAK]: GIMMEE UR MONEE!!!!!11
[OBTUSE OF KILAAK]: GIMMEE UR FLAG!!!11
[LOOSIFUR OF KILAAK]: PUNEE HEWMANZ!!!!!11
[Kilaak Kommander]: SILENZZ!!!!!11
[Kilaak Kommander]: PUNEE HEWMAN....GIVE ME YORE....PANTZ!!!11 AND YUR GOWT!!!!!11
[<TVB>Kazebari]: never!!
[Kilaak Kommander]: THEN I SHALL BEET YOO WITH STIK!!!
[<TVB>Kazebari]: NOOOOOOO!!!!!
Kilaak Kommander has killed <TVB>Kazebari with a crowbar

Yeah, that sucked :/

Here is a artical taken from a site that I was proud to help get it's start

My point being that since the release of TF 2.5 cheats have been a problem and alway's will be

Don't get mad.. Get even.

Friday, July 30, 1999, 12:06

If you play Quake TF you may know that there are some cheaters out there, and quite often players who play well just by skill get branded as cheaters.. This site is making an effort to help us reconize who is and who isn't cheating:

This is a page for the average knowledgeable user, who knows that some players cheat, that some don't, but has no clue how to tell either way. It provides information on detecting the detectable. In no way does this page show anyone how to cheat.

Information is provided on TF for Quake only, since TFC is still in development and cheats will probably be in the process of being eliminated for a long time. In TF for Quake, some cheats are probably here to stay due to the lack of updates in Quakeworld or the TF code. But yet many users do not know how to detect cheats of any kind, due to the security-through-obscurity policy in the TF community.

I hope that this page, with regular updates, will put some of this obscurity to rest, without giving enough information to help cheaters.

Sadly enough, the person that got me into online gaming now claims
to be proud to be a CounterStrike cheater, and even plays in a clan
where this is not just encouraged but expected.

At least, that's what was up the last time I spoke to the guy. I don't
talk to him anymore.
