I set my updaterate and cmdrate a while ago while it was still 3.1 . I was having problems with choke on overlord, now charlie, with the choke pegged at 100. Things got a little worse with 1.0 when it first came out but it was still playable. But in the last week or so things have gone downhill in a hurry. None of my settings were ever changed which is why I'm stumped. If the problem is with 1.0 then I hope they get it fixed in a hurry. _________________

I have a few things in my command line including those mentioned to lower lag, but the only problem is that I usually don't use th shortcut to open DoD. Is there a way to use them with ASE? _________________

if you futz with the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate you can really change your ping, useful for HHing and such... i was messing with that and was able to get my ping in the netgraph to like 2-3ms...crazy _________________ my pic host-age died!

high updaterates will lower your ms ping in net_graph. Net_graph really isnt useful for ping, but is usefull for loss and choke. You can go to pretty much any server, set your updaterate to 100 and you ping in netgraph will be hella low. Best to use your scoreboard for pings and results of configs upon your actual ping the server sees.
OMG, I decided to mess with my settings some more. set cl_cmdrate 15 and cl_updaterate to 10 and lowered my ping 20-30 ms on average. Be interesting when its a full server again. |

All that does is shut off joystick and IPX support. Very negligible
performance difference, if any at all.
Does anyone even run an IPX network anymore? |
Novell Netware still uses the IPX/SPX protocol. _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |
