I thought only throwing the nade in that one corner was exploiting the bug.

99% of ppl throwing grenades have no ideas where it would land. and as such anybody throwing a grenade down that street has a very good chance to use the exploit even if it was not voluntary  Add to that 2 grenades for a grenadier...
