24 Avanti. . . I love Avanti but after one round, I usually disconnect. It's just too much repetition. But many here seem to like it so it might stay full. Who knows!

I'd say, lose the neo. If it's not working, it's not working. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine. From what I have seen so far at TheVille, it is almost impossible to determine what will and will not keep a server full. (as far as map rotation is concerned) We as a people are strange when it comes to our server habits.

Maybe. . open up TFC and go to multiplayer and see what maps are running the most on general servers. That would be a good way to somewhat determine what maps are attracting the pub traffic.? ? ?


All good ideas I do notice people on 1 alot since the bots were added too.They drop as humans join which is cool and look how empty 1 used to be Neo is just way out of whack unless you seriously tweak it the Pyro jump and scout abilities make it completely pointless to play.

In my humble opinion, I think a few new maps would make people visit more. Just something to spice things up. Or remove Neo and try some other additions. Basically, try something and see what works the best. You never know what someone will like until they've tried it.

If you are really interested in boosting server traffic --> then you have to run the most popular maps. The two most popular maps in TFC are:

2fort
openfire_l (although low_grens would be better)

Take off NEO - it's too hard to understand and it really gives an advantage to those that know how to use it. Basically this will make the server more noobie friendly.

Then, think about some class limits. If you really want to promote exciting gameplay I would recommend

cr_sniper 1
cr_hwguy -1
cr_engy 2

cr_everything-else 0

This will all but eliminate the problem of a game turning into a snipe fest/yard d spammage. While this might disagree with some people I think it will promote of a more "fighting" game instead of a wait back and play d. Having 0 hw's - while taking out an important class eliminates all the problem of having to fight through 20 hw's to get to the enemy flag. At the very maxium this class should be set at one. Anything larger and it just becomes a hw vs hw war. I think that you should leave the snipers at 1 to satisify the noobies (and the experienced players) - but make it so that there is not total sniper domination. Anyway, 1 sniper vs 1 sniper usually cancels each other out. A sniper is really not all that bad on ofire - if they tend towards the battlements the better...

Engy needs to be at 2 to promote class diversity (lets see some sollys, demos, and pyros on d :p). Hopefully this will produce a lively, and filled game.

Just some thoughts.

The people have spoken, and NEO has been removed.

As far as class limits go, there has been a limit of 2 Snipers, HWG, and Engies as long as I can remember. With a 24 player server this gives you 18 slots for every other class.

I'm willing to make the map rotation themed (like league maps) if people want that, but as soon as you use custom maps you generally stop getting pubbers.

Right now the rotation remains at crossover2, flagrun, well, and warpath.

i agree with everyone that says eather leauge maps and anyone that says skillz maps i think that would bring some good to the server. the leauge maps are good if u are in a leauge and u could see what points are effectice and play em more often than 1s that rnt and well the skillz would RULE for noobs that want a little more practice

The ideal is to get the people outside of their base (exp. on maps like 2fort). I don't see how those class limits really hurt your defense. Sure the hwguy can provide you a strong defensive backbone - but a soldier can be just as strong, if not more so. Plus, a soldier is a lot more fun hehe. Two engys is more than pleanty for every map. It's kinda silly to have three or four on defense. The one sniper really isn't going to affect defense one way or another because a sniper kills an o member within the first five seconds of their run. At most they will frusterate o into playing d. The only real loss is hw - and there has been an ongoing shift away from using hw at all in competetion, because they are no longer the uber dominate defensive class.

PondScum997: I suggested one sniper to appease those who like sniping and to keep yard defense to a minium...but not to have so many snipers that it is overly difficult to play offense.

Even though openfire_l is a "league" map almost everyone has it these days and it is incrediably popular. Run 2fort/openfire_l for a week and see if the server usage increases.

all avanti would be a nice change for one week. I think a 7 day rotation of 'themes' as you put it would be fun. Just post the latest theme here in the coucil meeting hall and run it for a week or a fortnight, whatever...

also a thought for another theme week, would be an "all attack/defend map week" with avanti, osaka, dustbowl, palermo, etc.

then maybe an all "Classic Map" week with maps like 2fort, well, rock2, etc.

anyway, there are my 2 cents worth. Good luck and I will be sure to stop in TV2 now that Neo is gone...

Nothing personal, just never cared for it.
