Until murderball is either drastically changed (the map redone) or completely off the server rotation, I will be boycotting theville.

There have been several threads on this subject and nothing is being resolved.

The map is poorly designed and does not acurately reflect what we are about at theville --TEAM play. It becomes a one on one match with rogues who feel that knifing random people and sniping random people is fun. Then the victims retaliate and it becomes chaos, no one goes after the ball and the playing field is like running through a mine field. Where is the skill in that. We can all toss grenages and pipebombs into the middle of the field and kill eachother all day long. I know I often get bored after a couple minutes of holding the ball in my base.

The map might as well be a flat football field where people can go wild and do as they please because that is what goes on anyways.

So if you fee the same then join me in the boycott. The only way we will ever be heard is to show how serious we are about this.

I know lots of people could care less about ever seeing one or two plyers here again. But if we join as a group and the talent disappears and the regulars stop coming the powers that be will realizes what a follish decision it was to keep murderball in the rotation. I know at first it seems like the ultimate team play map, but it promotes players to play it like a death match. There is no skill or fun involved in that at all.

So until that date that things change you can chat with me via ICQ or whatever or catch me at Pete's or Monks house. I'm fed up with the llamas! If the map remains, then adios, its been a great few months. Ciao

play on one of the other 2 servers that doesn't have the map if you don't like it. Thats one of the reasons for having 3 servers not everyone likes the same maps.

TV1 & TV2 are often down on Saturdays as Robert E Lee and Cadman work many Saturdays.

They tend to come back up after 2 PM CST on Saturday.

I hate to see a player not come to the ville because he doesnt like a map. I still believe that team play is the key. If the other snipers are a problem learn to use cover when your trying to get the ball. have your sniper deal with their snipers, send one player out to lob rockets or grenades at the troublesome sniper. It just takes some teamwork.

I have made myself fairly clear in other Murderball threads, I believe 1 sniper is perfect for the game. Just be happy that we do limit classes, what would you say to 5 HW's holding the ball or 5 snipers on each team?

Actually 5 hws would be hillarious. If you threw an EMP in they would all die at once because it would hit all 5 of them and since it does chain damage based on the total amount of ammunition it hits, it would kill them all at once.

Bak, lets assume the 5 HW's have some skill and dont all stand in a group together at the front door.

Well, I was there with Dgenr8 last night and it was bad. One spy one the green team would just go around and kill whoever he wanted to and when we told him to play the game right he started cussing us off. Then the sniper on the red tean (4u2nv) also shoot whoever he felt like. So i went and taught then a lesson but it was still really annoying.

Murderball can actually be a fun map and promote fun twist on team play if played right.

You know how other maps flash the warning about respawn camping and then fades away? Murderball should do the same. It should flash these two rules of the game:

1) ONLY attack the team with the ball. Snipers please note to ONLY snipe the team with the ball.

2) The team with the ball can attack any team.

Then as in other maps with Respawn camping, they get a warning and then kicked.

I know that when I first started playing on The 'Ville's servers there were a lot of respawn camping and a lot of people kicked. And now I hardly see it.

A little education with some "Law Enforcement" could add some GG's with great team play with Murderball.

Just my humble opinion,

If you don't like that map, don't play it. It's that simple. Nobody's forcing you or anybody to play Murderball. Go to TV 1 or 3 when that map comes up. Alot of players love that map, including myself. Things can and do get out of hand sometimes. But when the map is played the way it's supposed to be, it's fun and does require team play to win.

I like murderball. Despite the snipers and other llamas. Most of these people simply aren't aware of the unwritted rules of the game. For instance, i was playing with cycomom last night and she was running around knifing everyone. Why? It's not because shes a new player or an evil spirit, no one had taken the time to explain it to her.

I think I couple admins to ensure fair play would definately help. Either way I like the map, its different then the usualy cap point or flag maps. I would really like to see some part of the ville cup held on a murderball map. I think there would be great teamplay there.

Degen, I hate to see you leave the ville, you were a good player. Hope you have luck elsewhere....

Maybe we can have some simple rules appear in the center of the screen at intervals so people can become familiar with them. Than after a couple of minutes of play and if we still have non-productive players we can take further action. Is vote Kick allowed on this server? Than we can police it ourselves without admins having to always be there.
Anyway I'm still playing to much fun to pass up.

Although I don't like restricting snipers. I want to play the map and not babysit the whole Murderball experience as I have the past few nights. I'm gonna start being a dick and just kicking everyone treating a teamplay map as a deathmatch. THIS IS NOT A DEATHMATCH MAP

I don't have a huge problem with the snipers, especially now that they are limited to 1 per team. Its a fact of the game that you are going to get sniped once in a while. I think that part is fine. (Especailly because I like to snipe).

Its the respawn campers that really get me there is nothing to stop them. And people continue to play like its a death match. No matter how much we educate the newbies, there will always be more that do the same thing, it will be a constant struggle.

Beans et al, I know there are 2 other servers but late at night when I usually play there is never anybody on anything other than one server. That and not all 3 have been up recently (I know they are real servers for things other than games, so this is understandable). IE last night a bunch of us were on #1 and Frag mentioned that murderball was starting on #2 (well frag has a little pull around here) and everyon but me and another player left. Eventually the other player got tired of being killed and left. I played alone on @1 for like 20 minutes waiting for more to show. To no avail. So I went over to #2 when the rotation got to avanti. Well 2 minutes in to the match there was a "vote" to restart murderball. The only 2 votes I saw were mine and cycomom's AGAINST the new map and it restarted anyways. I think that a rotation should be a rotation and if you want to do map voting go to #3... and thus that is where murderball should be. It should only be played when enough people vote for it.

This is nothing against Robert or any of the admins I just think the map causes way to much chaos and administrative nightmares to be on the rotation. I know that there is a TON of work that goes into the upkeep of the servers and site and I sincerely appreciate it. Its just unfortuante that an oversite such as this can distract so much from the game we all enjoy playing. I think that someday this will be realized and a different rotation will be instated.

If I wanted a deathmatch I would go play Doom of Duke nuke 'em or something... not TFC.

I personally like murderball, now that I've learned how to play it. Some things take time. I know I educated 2 snipers the other night and they stopped doing the Deathmatch thing.

Also, not that cycomom needs any defending, but since her name was mentioned twice in this thread, I would like mention that that was the first time she ever played the map the other night. She downloaded it after asking me if it was worth playing. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to explain the map concepts, since I was in the middle of a different game with some other friends.

She told me she couldn't understand why everyone was complaining(whining) about getting killed. I think that shows the real problem here. We just need to get more people educated on how this map should be played.

Each time I play the map it gets better, and I understand peoples frustration, but if you don't play it, that is one less person there that knows how to play it right.
