Scripts? What the hell are they? (Trigger Speaks)

Bigcaulk -

We can argue this all day, I'm with Greebo, KRG and like minded on this,

EE, blown, bigcaulk, use them, obviously see nothing wrong with them,

Neither side is likely to change its opinion, end of story.

bigcaulk, I have the pleasure of playing on a crappy dial-up, so making everyones ping the same would certainly get my vote

Guys using scripts due to lack of keys is NO EXCUSE AT ALL.

You've all got a keyboard with 100+keys on it FFS, use them.

well since the reload has been beat into the ground here are a couple others.

build disp/det dispenser bound to one single key. You can build the dispensor by hittiing the key once, then det the dispensor by hitting the same key again. How would this be considered a low form of cheating. You could just bind two keys to do the same thing but instead you combined them into one key.

build sg/rotate 180. Same as the disp one, one key does both. Hit it once starts to build an sg, hit it after its built rotates it 180. Again you could just bind two keys to do the same thing.

I agree with what others have said, you ping is the biggest advantage anyone will have. Play with a 500 ping vs someone with a 100 ping. Or a terrible FPS with the players skipping around the map. So is a person with a good ping have less skill becuase he has an advantage now.

I have scripts to reload when I walk forward (only W, not asd). I also have a script to crouch jump, a script to prime nades. Now someone hear me on this.

W binded to walk and reload is the same thing as having W binded to walk and E binded to reload and holding down both of those buttons. I don't see how anyone could disagree with holding down both those buttons. So Then I can't see how anyone can disagree with just using W. Like what phish said, there is no skill in reloading. What's the differance in someone repeativly hitting the R button or +attack2 for solly, when they can use a bind? It's just simplier.

Crouch jumping was just because I was bored one say and made it. I can crouch jump without it, so I just use it so I don't need to hit my ctrl button anymore. I litterally don't hit ctrl anymore. It's just easier on my fingers.

People who think nade priming scripts are so uber 1337, and that only cheaters use them, and that you will lose respect for someone that use them probably don't know what we are even talking about. All they do is allow you to hit F or G twice to throw a nade instead of holding down the button. Like bigcaulk said, the hardware is more of an advage. I cannot strafe right and prime a grenade without the script, but he can because of his mouse. Am I cheating because I can do the same thing he can with less expensive hardware? Also, they are not perfect. If you die before throwing a nade, then you will need to hit the button again to reset the bind, hit it to prime the grenade, and hit it to throw it. If anything at some points this can even be a disadvatage.

I really want to see someone that doesn't use scripts to use them for 1 round. Just 1. I bet you will be convinced that scripts arn't uber 1337 hacks.

Greebo is right! Scripts are for cheeturs and the unskilled.

Nothing mentioned in this thread by anybody has been a script.... there all binds (except for the rocket jump but we all agree that is wrong)

So instead of using the default "f" key to throw my nades I have it bound to my "q" key, is that cheeting or unskilled? No.... get real I prefer to use a different key thats all!

Even KRG uses a bind to build and detonate his disp, so if that's wrong he is just a guilty as me for having a bind to build an sg.
This has nothing to do with skill and more with smarts, are people who use macros in excell cheeturs too?

I have a friend who is handicapped so I re-mapped all his keys so he could play, is he a cheetur?

Let me give you a good example of a script cheet. 2 days ago I was playing against a hw that would go into a funky chicken dance everytime someone was shooting at him, it was almost impossible to hit him, he moved so much and so fast in a wierd way that it was impossible that he was hitting all those keys so he had a script that he could call with one key press that pressed at least 7 different keys one after the other, impossible for anybody to do alone so he was/is cheeting and I warned him to stop... he knew what he was doing was cheap so he stopped. End of story until I catch him again.

If you can't count to 1 - 2 or 3 then you're just being lazy.

Multi weapon Script:
This script allows you to have different weapons, a scout can have a hw guys machine gun

Pitch bug script:
A nice bug for Team Fortress which irritates sentry guns so they cannot hurt you!

Are these scripts no cheats eagle eyes? Because valve enabled chea...sorry scripts?

how are they cheap? they would allow someone like you greebo to do some of the things i do with my 5 button mouse. so is it cheap that i have a 5 button mouse and you don't?

You guys are missing the point, if Valve had intended to have a 2 push nade system....IT WOULD BE A DEFAULT! It's not, and the argument isn't over how many buttons your mouse has, or what key does what, it's that you're doing something with a script that you couldn't do normally with a bound key....regardless of its location.
