Yes with 1024x768 it's 75 FPS

And I only have 31 processes running. MSN and Steam are the only ones I run myself. The others are just there heh.

Well, it sounds like your problem is game specific. I personally will always take "fast" over "pretty" (to an extent) so if it was me, I'd see about turning down some of the in-game settings until you're up over 45 fps. Also, have you tweaked your WinXP Virtual Memory/Page File? (See the middle steps at: http://www.theville.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19927 ) If not, you can probably gain some time there by setting that to a static size. (With 512MB real RAM I'd recommend a 1024 MB fixed size of virtual memory.)

If you are going to buy RAM, which I think isn't a bad plan since your next upgrade will likely use DDR1 RAM anyways, I'd go with PC3200 or faster. It will only run as fast as your PC2700 currently, but when you upgrade you can plan on keeping the 3200 stick and tossing the 2700. I'm a big fan of Corsair XMS RAM for my system, but have Kingston Value RAM on my parents PC and it seems to run fine. I'd stick to Corsair, Crucial, and Kingston or anything that has a 4-star or better average rating at NewEgg with >20 reviewers. If you go with Corsair XMS get the PC3200 2-3-3-6 and you should be fine.

In fact, here's a sweet deal on a Gig of XMS for <$120. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145450
Man, I wish prices had been that low when I bought mine. I paid $104 for EACH 512MB stick I have.

Wow thanks Evil. Me and Star were both looking into RAM so we were gonna split the price of a 2 x 512 MB purchase.
