I intentionally shut if off and I know others do too. I use it to my advantage cause I know the bad guys can hear me also. I'll run hard at them and just b 4 reaching them, I'll crouch, back off and sneak around another way. Freaks them out..

I personally dont use it. I've gotten to the point where, even on top of all that ambient crap, I can still make out little sounds, like footsteps, etc. But it doesn't bother me at all if people use it, the ability to shut it off is there for a reason.

I never even knew you can turn off ambient sounds! Would save my eardrums on that silly map with those loud, annoying guns!

I tried the 'stopsound' command' last night on dod_donner to rid myself of that annoying rainfall but I found that it was even more annoying without the sound!
