whenever i try to create games, i get this message right before i enter the map, it has already added teh master servers and everything except, right before i go into the game it says this, "tried to create a message with a bogus message type (0)" i don't know what it means and it keeps me from creating a game to try out some new maps. Help would be much appreciated.

Hmm, i've never heard of that one before. For me sometimes it just crashed for no reason while creating a game

That's a new one for me. I'd look at your MOTD file in your TFC folder and see if there is something strange in there. That's the only place that I know of for messages. I'm sure I'm way off on this but that is where I would start.

post the exact error please. Is this happening when using the Lan option or when your setting up a server to play via modem to modem with a friend ? It sounds like you are trying to join your own server from the sme machine. If you want to play alone to tryout new maps just do it by picking Lan, pick your map, and off you go. Makesure the map is there....

I believe that "message type" refers to what kind of message is displayed on the screen when an admin says something. For example message type (x) would put a message in the lower left hand corner of the screen, like what cs guard will do. Type (y) will put it across the center of the screen, like the flag cap messages in well. It also determines the type of font and if it's colored. I don't know how many message types there are but apparently there is no messgae type 0. Your comp may have been set up to automatically display a message when you enter the server, but it was set to a default value that doesn't exist. I would check a site that lists HL commands and what the different values do to find out how to fix it.
