Lag???

For those of you who complain about lag:

Before you start b**tching about the lag on the servers remember this:

Most of these servers are on (at least) t1's wich are guarenteed minimun upload/download speeds and are monitored 24/7 for QOS (Quality of Service) So if problems occur they are fixed before you even notice it.

If you are the only one on a server getting some lag/bad ping ITS NOT THE SERVER!!! Check your own connection!!! Call your provider! Stop complaining to everyone on the server. If you go to another server you will most likely still get a bad ping.

Try doing a traceroute to the server and it will tell you where the bottleneck is occuring.

If you need help feel free to post in the forums or contact one of us admins...

This may clear up a couple of issues as far as lag is concerned. http://tfc.atdt911.com/ping.shtml#tcp . Sometimes it could be a bad hub on the way to the server. I know when I speak up about lag it's usually meant as a general comment and not based towards the server itself.

It really doesnt bother me when people speak up on the lag, its those who are Loud and Rude and wont shut up about it. They need to realize all the work we put into these servers to keep em lag free... Hope you dont catch the admin who set the server up, cause then your asking for a beating.

If you complain about the lag and your nice about it, Everybody will be more than happy to help you IE:

Nice:
Player "Anyone else notice the lag?"
Admin "None here, try doing this....."

Not Nice:

Player "F**K this laggy a** Server
(Often repeated several times)
Player "This is the laggiest server ever"
Admin "GoodBye Player"

Cant tell you how many times i have seen this, its called Have some common Courtesy Please!!!

Sorry for ranting, It just gets to me sometimes.

Doesnt bother me at all Mongoose. You were very nice when you mentioned it. Its not directed at anyone.. Most of us regs know its our ISP. Espically if you have att cable.

Another thing to keep in mind is Geographic Location of the servers and you plays a big part in lag.. Ask bobbins about that. The closer you are the better ping you have, the farther away you are the ping/lag will get worse.

Most cases it is your own moronic isp. I did a trace on my dls to one of the servers i ply at in portland area where i live. One day it sent me to la then to chicago before the northeast then to the server. Ping was 250 and I could have walked to the server.

I complain about my lag all the time when I play on TV1. I get lag when too many people come on TV1. I try to cope with it but I freeze so much people get easy kills of me which is very irritating. I mean TV1, formerly known as avantiville, is the map that theville is based off of. I mean that's where I practically met everyone at! And it sucks when you can't frag along with your pals in a map that means genuine to you. I leave the server when I'm about to blow up and come back later when I feel it's alright. But as for the other servers I don't get lag, but on TV1 I get lag the most.

I don't get lag on TV3, but I do get lag on TV2 which is because of Neo TF. Lag ruins my/peoples game. I mean your right about how people should do a tracer route prior to complaining, because it could be your connection and so forth.

Even though TV1 is like my most favorite server the lag I get ruins my game. I came to the friggin ville because of avantiville. And if you look now, you barley see people playing on avantiville anymore which makes me wonder why.

I don't play on TV1 anymore unless there are a few people. I play on TV3 now because I don't get freezing lag like I do on TV1. Good stuff.

Part can be server load (cpu memory drives). All hopes the ville supports program can give em a bigger cpu lol.
