I would try to uninstall it and delete it. Since you copied your old hd over, you might have to install from the new cd. Then unistall and delete it. Once every instance of TFC is gone off your HD, then re-install with your CD code.
If all else fails fdisk always works.

Goddamn CD keys! We should just attack sierra and force them to remove them all!!! I have the same problem when my brother is playing. We didn't use the same CD key when we installed the games on our different computers, but we share a network. In fact, he has HL and I have CS. The CD key really es me off because we both paid our money, but we still can't play together.

I would uninstall it and then type Regedit in
your Run Start Menu, Look for every entry that says Sierra starting in your,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software links. |

I think what happened was that when ur uninstalled the file, it didn't fully uninstalled meaning that the key was still entered in the registry. To change this just follow below.
Go to "run" in the start menu. After that type "regedit" (without quotes) and hit enter. Browse on the left side til u get to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Valve/Halflife/Settings. Then find the value that says Key on the right side. Just double click and change ur key.
Hope this helps.

If you are going to mess with your registry make sure you make a copy of it first. That way if you duck it up you can copy the old one back in.
