I dont know if this is a legitimate question, but does anyone know how to connect to the internet without an isp?

As far as I know you always need an ISP. With broadband there is no need to have an ISP such as AOL or any other. I know with cable my ISP is the cable company that I have my service with. I'm not sure if this answers your question or not. Now with DSL I'm not sure how it works but I'm to assume that it's similiar to cable.

yes you need an isp.......



or... you can dial into someone else's computer, and use their bandwidth. but of course it has to be set up for that, and in turn, they would actually become your isp.

With DSL, you pay two fees (or i did). You pay your phone company for the DSL signal that comes down your phone line, and you pay another charge to your ISP for the actual connection to the Internet. More companies I think are starting to both provide the DSL signal, and be your ISP. People find it inconvinient to pay two monthly bills, and when you cancel DSL, you have to inform both your DSL provider, and your ISP. But you most definitly need an ISP of some sort

Some dslproviders pay for the tel companies charges, which is why it is usually a little more than getting dsl directly from the tel company. At least in Vegas it seems to work that way.

The only way to get in without either being an ISP or Connecting with an ISP would be to hack the backbone of the internet, if you can do that then you are rich and shouldnt be playing TFC. lol
