Accually the new VAC modules will probably never catch scripts, there is no reason to. They will probably not do anything with pipedowns. And yes Nade jumping, conc jumping and rocket jumping are accually exploits. When QWTF was first released the mod designers had no plans what so ever for bunnyhopping, wallstrafing or any types of enhanced jumping (concing, etc) at all. But at one of the first expos (E3 maybe) people were playing on lans and all of a sudden you would see people concing across bases's yard and skimming up the ramps. Later on it became an acceptable practice, and some things were limited to make it ok. Originally you could HH from well's FD to enemy top roof without gliding.
Back on the subject of VAC, right now it only protects against client hooks and gl hooks. Oh ya, it detects cl_pitchspeed 6 (or lower/slightly higher) in CS to prevent no recoil haks. It does nothing against gl wrappers and will not in the future. Valve plans on taking the HLG (well making there own) wallhack block and adding it to VAC (this also should increase ping times, w00t). It is still quite possible to get past VAC, but for the normal coder it's begining to be increasingly harder. Nemesis will be caught when VAC comes to TFC as well as sparky utils hook.
VAC will also be detecting CD key changes, so say you get a perm ban and change your CDkey, and keep the same IP you will be logged, if you do the same thing again more serious stuff might happen, but right now that's only in the logging stage.
Also, for false positives there are currently none. There was an old bug that detected certain glide graphics cards running in opengl mode but I believe that was cleared up.
And lastly for the 24 hour bans, they are total BS. You get banned from secure server A, you can go play on Secure server B no problem. |
