just reinstall it itll re-add the registry entries you deleted.. then run the adware scan again and make note of the new ones in there that are related to kaza so the next time you scan you know wich ones not to delete... _________________

Kazaa won't work for sure after cleaning with adaware because kazaa is SPYWARE thus EVIL
You need to download Kazaa lite, which is a clever piracy of Kazaa. Kazaa lite has been designed without all these spywares Kazaa needs to work by converting one of them as a harmless application. So Kazaa thinks it has everything it needs he he ...
Death to Spywares!!
Here's the info:
Kazaa users, angered by the network's inclusion of secretly embedded spyware, can now connect to the peer-to-peer network using a hacked version of the application called Kazaa Lite.
Kazaa Lite is a software client that provides access to the same FastTrack network as the peer-to-peer program, Kazaa Media Desktop, but does not require users to install any third-party software or view any banner ads.

Gator is another widely used spyware program. In fact, some big companies are really pi$$ed off about it, and are suing Gator or something like that. Do a search - you'll find out more.
Also - try http://www.cleanclients.tk. Grokster users who want rid of spyware will be interested. |

| Analogy: Gator doesn't buy the ingredients or help to bake the cake, but helps to eat it. |

Kazaa Lite still hits you with a pop-up once in a while. And it will devour your ping if there are transfers going on, so you'll want to keep it closed anyway.
The chat softwares aren't too much of a hassle, as long as you have them set so incoming messages don't pop open a window. I run ICQ and AIM while playing, and get a 50-70 ping regularly. |

I like to try to stay away from programs that are "hacks" of other programs. Not that I care about whether Kazaa-Lite is being unfair to Kazaa, but because the lawsuits might end up shutting Kazaa-Lite down. I actually use Morpheus and WinMX which to my knowledge are spy ware free. Or at least after running Ad-Aware they don't break.
I have a little story for you, though. I love music and was looking online for lyrics to P.O.D. 's Boom recently. The lyrics sites out there are regularly shut down due to law suits on copyright infringement. So the one I use doesn't have a huge library of songs and didn't have Boom. So, I go to Google for a search on a new lyrics site. I see lyrics.com (don't go there whatever you do) so I go to it and a message pops up for a second. I think it is just a warning about an Active X script or something and click OK without reading it. Turns out it was this spyware/install that spread like the Ebola virus through my system. Created about twelve new icons (some of them porn related) and reset my home page and made so many registry entries that I couldn't even find them all. The new homepage was lop.com (don't go there either!) I did a little research and found out that this lop.com is a search engine that sells space and gets paid per click on a link. So to make the site popular they created this install routine. But as bad as that is, they went even further creating several different versions of the same thing, so it is very difficult to know how to uninstall the stuff because you may have a different version installed than whoever you get advice from about deleting it.
Does that suck or what?
So, if it wasn't for Windows ME's System Restore feature I would still have all these icons and other crap on my system. And before he says it, Sneaky Lil Mikey has pointed out that Roxio makes a program that does the same trick as Windows ME, in case you are still on 98 or whatever. It's called Roxio GoBack, and Mikey Likes it!! Right, Mikey?
So beware people. Beware of lyrics.com and lop.com they suxors! This is for them

<EDIT> I should also say that the pop up warning I got may have only appeared because I have my Internet Security settings pretty high. On a different machine, you might never get a warning at all before this thing installs. </EDIT> |
