Please, anyone that know about DVD players and TVs and RF Modulators please contact me ASAP via this thread or Email.
I just purchased a KLH DVD player+5.1 speaker deal and hooked it all up (about 1 hour or so) and I go to test it and I get beautiful sound from Amadeus on DVD, but guess what...NO PICTURE. I am using an RF Modulator, so it should be working.
I am using a 30" emerson TV (might be the problem) and a Terk model MOD-34 RF modulator. I know everything is connected properly, so if anyone can help...please do! _________________ I WAS (back in august of 02) just better than you, thats all.

RF Modulator?? Do you have a coaxial plug in the back of your TV?? Another way would be to use audio/video jacks if your tv is stereo. If you use the coax method than you have to make sure your on the right channel, like a vcr. If your using the audio/video jacks then you want to make sure you are on the proper video setting on your tv, video1 video2 etc.. If you have the port for s-video than there's more I can say but let me know what you got and I can hook you up. _________________

Well, I have a coax in on the back of my TV. Its only got one speaker, which is why I opted for the dvd+speaker combo.
I did speak to a friend of mine, and he helped me a bit. I hooked up my DVD player to the TV in the living room (with AV inputs) and the video worked fine. So, my next step is picking up a different/better RF Modulator from radio shack tomorrow. That really should solve the problem.
I know if the TV were trying to use a digital signal it wouldn't work, cuz A-its an older TV, and B-cuz its not really equipped for that. BUT, thats what the RF Modulator is supposed to fix, switching a Digital Signal into an analog signal. I know my coax thingee works on my TV cuz I have used a VCR on it before with no problem.
Hopefully gettin a new modulator will solve the problem.
Thanks BRN _________________ I WAS (back in august of 02) just better than you, thats all.

Your RF modulator should have a channel 3/4 selector on it..... make sure your TV is on the channel the selector is on. _________________ If you are reading this, thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english, thank a veteran!

My tv has to be on video 1. If your tv doesn't have a video mode then it won't work. _________________ The few, the proud, the chickenz!

Mine has to be switched on to AV1, then punched a few times and it works. Try that |

The video modes are if you run audio/video jacks. My big screen has 6 I think with 4 S-video ports. However you can run your DVD with only coax cable, the picture won't be as nice as with the video jacks but you can. I'm not sure if you ment it that way Dr.Lucky but I figured I'd post it anyways, BTW nice to see ya again. Now my big screen has even more cables that I have run that gives the DVD's an even sharper image, I can't remember the exact name of those but the price is rediculous. Made a huge difference though.
Just use some RG6 OSU and you should be fine. Just set the channel correctly. _________________

RG6?
btw, as I stated earlier. This TV is in no way digital. It only has coax, so no "Video 1" or "Aux" Its just coax, just 3 or 4. I think it is the RF modulator, and I am gonna swing by Radio Shack today and pick up a new one, and hope that solves the problem. _________________ I WAS (back in august of 02) just better than you, thats all.

Sry, RG6 is just a higher grade of coax. The typical coax is RG59. |
