I'm not very good with the whole binding business...anything more complicated then say_team confuses me.
I want to bind a key to drop my ammunition AND drop the flag? What are the commands for these and how do I do them both with the same key?

I'm not sure if you can do both commands under the same key but the default setting is "C" & "V" I believe. Mine aren't set at default but I think those are the ones. _________________

Just add this to your config.cfg file, bind "x" "dropitems; discard"
Where x is the key you want. _________________

Well, what you want to do is create an alias to the two commands and then bind a key to the alias command. But you run the risk of invoking the wrath of the script haters who feel that anything you do that you can't do with single default keystrokes is an advantage and unfair. I don't know if they would consider those two tasks combined unfair or not. I really stopped reading those threads after I resolved to get rid of my rocket jumping script and go au naturel.
But here's how it would work in your .cfg file if you did the alias:
alias dothething "discard;dropitems"
bind "x" dothething
Another thing you can do with binding is this:
Create a new file and put this in it:
speak "enemy has no johnson"
Then save it with a name like johnson.cfg
then in your .cfg (config or which ever class.cfg file you want to use)
put
bind "x" "exec johnson.cfg"
Its pretty funny to hear that booming voice say,
Enemy has no Johnson!
But unfortunately you are the only one who can hear it.
There is a list of available words that the Half Life voice can say and lots of binding and console info at the following website, but beware some of the scripts there are considered cheats on the Ville.

PS: DOH! Eagle Eyes beat me to the post! Oh well, he's right. You don't even need to do an alias if you don't want to you can bind directly. But the alias thing is good to know for more complex scripts if you can make ones that are not an unfair advantage. |
