Did a bit of small orienteering at school - was a good way of getting out.
I'd never consider doing it proffesionally for prizes - too much hard work, but given where I live (scotland) I might look into doing it occasionally just to get out and about in the fresh air.

Pondscum, Harriman State Park is in Rockland County, NY, the southernmost county.

As for Orienteering in the Olympics, it is a possibility. It will be in the winter olympics in four years as a cross country skiing sport. It is possible that it will be in the summer Olympics by 2112 when it comes to NY. That would be cool because I would be just the right age.

That's awesome man! I sincerely wish you the best of luck. It sounds like just going there and competing and representing your country is already a tremendous accomplishment. I know I have bookmarked that site to keep track of how you are doing and I'm sure all of us at the Ville will be rooting for you.

I'm guessing that they strictly prohibit GPS systems in those races? Or maybe not, I'll have to read more about it.
