I've been searching thru the stat programs available for use and they all have a couple things in common. They track kills, deaths, suicides and spit out a overall skill rating. Some go a little further and keep track of caps and various other things but they don't incorporate this into the skill rating. None keep track of sg kills and the other classes like medic and eng who heal or strengthen people.
Now heres the good part most were written by people who claim to have thrown the program together in a few nights or so.
If this is true it must not be to difficult for someone who knows how to do this.
Now we have collected monies to help Robert defray the costs of purchasing another server.
We should now set our goals to the commision of building our own stat system built to our specifications.
So here are the questions
What exactly do we want it to do
Can it be built
how much would it cost
can we use an existing system and modify it
who is going to build it
Will sierra or some other game company want to help.
After its built can we market it or do we share freely.
Please feel free to expand or explain why something is good or bad or won't work or..???many ideas and thoughts help gel a direction to go in. |

Hrm...... things that should be taken into account with skill:
1) Killing Sgs
2) Capping Caps
3) Blowing holes
4) Closing holes (for maps that allow this)
5) Defusing detpacks
6) Tranq kills (it's just a wish, won't happen cos tranqs are counted as nailguns)
7) Repairing *other* people's sgs
Healing Infections/flames/halucinations
9) IMHO Kill/Death ratio counts for little in skill - especially in a team game like this, stats should reflect this.

Simon (the creator of HLstats) is currently out of HLstats development. There hasn't been a new version since May. There is no scheduled time for his return. He doesn't even answer forum questions anymore. It's now in the hands (kinda) of the hlstats community to progress the program. Believe me, they know of all of the problems, there really isn't anyone there to take the lead and fix them.

So the problems are so big it really takes a experinced person to work it out familiar with the halflife community? Not just any programer could do it. payed or not?
Well as they say if it was easy it would already be done. |
