Woohoo! Picked up my 29th weapon today. Joining "the club" takes a little bit of the sting out of being schooled in the Ville Cup this week!

Some observations about the whole process:

A RECOMMENDATION: If you haven't done so yet, go for all 29 weapons some week. It is a fun, rewarding, educational, and humbling experience all at once. I learned a LOT this week, and have new respect for people who play certain classes regularly.

BEST PREPARATION: Playing a lot of Spy beforehand helped me. Getting the weaker weapons is much easier if you know how to get behind your opponent and stay there.

MOST FUN: Playing Demo and getting into spam wars against Albino Gibbon. Step into his world sometime. It's a blast.

TOUGHEST WEAPON: Medkit for some reason, and Headshot. Caltrop isn't that bad if you find a heavy traffic area and spam it.

LAST WEAPONS: Railgun and Spanner, which is embarrassing for a guy who lists Engie as his best class.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Getting the Nailgun kill "mano y mano" as Scout against a HWGuy. Going for 29 does wonders for your skirmishing skills.

THING THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL: I checked my player ranking at the start of the process, and was 25th. After picking up my last weapon, I had somehow moved UP to 15th. Can't explain it. Either number is high for me. Maybe by playing a lot of Engie to get the last two weapons??

Congratulations Thom! I would try for the 29 weapons club, but for some strange reason my parents have restricted me from using the computer, so the only time I can play is early in the morning or late at night which doesn't give me much time to try for it.

I was lucky enough to pick up #29 on a spanner kill last night. Pure luck, that. Good thing, too. I was a little worried I'd waste a caltrop kill

Thom's right. It's really something to try. Especially with the weak weapons like the nail gun. You learn how to do things like a circle strafe alot better, and I feel that I learned how to be a better player through this experience.

For me, it was going full on as an offensive scout. I could only imagine the "WTF?" feelings of the HWGuys and Demos as they see this Scout barrelling full on into combat for no good reason

Caltrop. Easily. You have to get real lucky on that one, at least I did. Medkit's tough, too. You need to catch your enemy in the right position.

Learning the fun of being an offensive medic. Disease, the gift that keeps on giving.

Anyway, congrats, Thom. I learned how hard it is to do and I take my hat off to everyone who tries it from now on.

Way to go LOTF!

My caltrop kill came at the middle of the field in Murderball while there was a mad rush for the ball. There are always a bunch of near-dead players and random gunfire when the ball pops up. The "death room" on Avanti might be another good spot (the little room right past CP2 where everybody gets bunched up).

I have a qusestion about the Twenty-Nine Weapon Club. Do you have to get all Twenty-Nine Weapon kills in one week and then you have to start over? Or do you do it all the time you have played the ville??

You have to get them all in one week. Congrats to all the players who have accomplished this, it is quite a feat.

As an addendum to my earlier post, I got upwards of 5 caltrop kills on Avanti today. Who would have thought spamming just outside of CP2 would bring fun and profit?

GJ guys, I too joined the club this week, and I know how good it feels. Some advice to those who want to go for it: If you get a caltrop kill at all, go for the club! That way, you already have the hardest weapon under your belt. Actually, I feel kinda stupid, cause my last weapon was a single shotgun. But overall, I feel good.

Sooooo close this week. I jokingly told someone in a post of mine that while it took them two hours, it would take me two weeks or more. But this week, I am tantalizingly close.

However, it seems like TV1 went down a little before 10AM Sunday and nobody is on the other servers....ARRGHHH!
You can't kill if they don't show up. Hehe, what if I threw a bloodbath and nobody showed up?

So, I have only Rail Gun (hardest left) Dispenser, Gas Grenade and Flames. Two of em should be easy, I just hope I have more time to play later when others are online.

WHOOOOOO followed immediately by HOOOOOOO!!!!!

I finally got the 29!!

Took me a little longer than most of you club members, but so what? I'm still happy about it. Unlike those of you who saw your score rise or maintained POTW rank... well, I didn't fare as well. Hehe

I finished off with a Dispenser kill. Had to leave TV3 and go to TV1 to get on Avanti for that though. Tough to get dispenser kills on murderball.

Anyway, I'm gonna relax and refinance my mortgage now.

Whats really funny is when you guys are going for the caltrop kills and you run right into the middle of hws and soldiers and heave them all over the place. Haha funny stuff. how much mirror deaths do you get from us stumbling over them?

Did you know that we have caltrops that grow naturally here in Southern California. We call them Bullheads they are a ball with 3 stickers jutting out that look remarkably like caltrops. they are strong enough to puncture the souls of your shoes fortunatly not long enoug to go all the way thru. They will make you limp instantly when barefoot and require tweezers to pull out if the head breaks off. Our dogs get them and really have a hard time.
Does anyone else have these growing where they live?
