After playing tfc for a couple of months now, I notice many people (including me) have a lot of trouble dealing with HWs, wether they are skilled players or not. I am not a big fan of this class because they seem to just stand there and shoot but I am well aware that they seem to be very effective. I thought that some of the more experienced players could post some tips on how to deal with them.
One thing that i have noticed is playing pyro if you set them on fire with your rocket and then run around them with your flamethrower, reversing direction if they follow you with their gun, is rather effective.
Anybody have some tricks other classes can use when they turn a corner and see a hw revving up his gun?

sorry for the redundant post. I should have gone into John Does tip section before posting this. He has some excellent advice there.

The advice there isnt mine, its the advice from many players that I have compiled. I always welcome other players input on what they find works.

Well the first and foremost if you round the corner and see a HW reving up his gun you should stand there and wait for it to start spitting out the bullets. After you lose about 50% of your life you should lunge at his Cannon, hurling your crumpling body onto his barrels in the hopes of jamming it. If you survive he will probably die of shock that suck a thing could happen. And repeat every time you see a HW guy.

And HW guys, remember to ALWAYS duck while in a close combat firefight with another HW guy. This way you head can absorb the bullets that would otherwise damage your precious body full of juicy organs who don't like to be peirced very much. Your brain may not thank you but your spleen sure will.

Actually I disagree, ducking is about the last thing I usually do - cos if the other guy is ducking it makes it a lot easier to circle strafe them.
Actually I seem to have found that height advantage works eg
The ramp that goes up the right of avanti, just past the death room.
If you are on the top, shooting down at another HW on the bottom, if you start moving down the ramp you'll kill them first....at least that's my experience so far

Hehehe Shhh Greebo, I know not to duck but you aren't supposed to say that. The height advantage does work, because they aborb the bullets into their head and take more damage. When I initiate combat I usually run and leap one huge leap at them and start firing while in the air down at their head. When I land the barrel goes into their chest and usually takes out a HW guy as fast as I mow down other classes. As for circle straifing it works for a second until they get their gun sweeping at you. Instead I straif back and forth randomly while walking forward. They aren't able to lock on and hose ya down as easily if they don't know where you're going.

Anyways ROOFCUTTER, you can make him fly. Get a team medic to conc for ya, You wont get dizzy like he would, and you can fly just as far. So when you land you're battle ready and full of health.
