Warhammer -TPF- How to be a better Demoman!

If anyone is out there and has any tips on being an effective Demoman, I'd love to listen. This past week I've been dreading being dealt Demo since I can never seem to kill anyone with the grenade launcher when it matters! Are there too few players on AV to make it worthwile to play demoman here? When I play on larger servers like Extreme TFC (32 players), defensive demomen get most of the kills. Do I just suck at demo, or is AV not conducive to being an effective demoman? Maybe I don't have the patience to lay down pipebombs and just wait... wait... wait... for someone to come along and run through them.

Well, this dosent really aply to Avanti, but on levels with ramps like 2fort, I like to put 4 pipebombs under each ramp, then just sit there and wait for somebody to try and run up.
I guess on Avanti you could spam the heavy traffic areas like attacker's first respawn, the main route from CP1 to CP2, the large open area around CP3, and that narrow passageway next to the church... spam, spam, spam.

On any map with flags (wait! that's all of them!!) u can just lay some pipes down on the flag (or the cap point in Avanti's case) and just wait till somebody comes along to cap. Of course this means that u are the last line of deffense and is probably only useful when the flag is just inches from the CP.

Some useful tips:
-you can lay 8 pipe bombs at a time. any more and 1 pipe will explode for each extra pipe u lay.
-a very useful task is to pipe-jump to those hard to reach areas like the det wall in Avanti. Just launch a pipe so that it lands a couple feet from the wall. Then get a running jump, and as you cross over the pipe, detonate it and it will send u flying. 2 pipes will take u farther/higher but will damn near kill u.

To summarize:
Spam
Lay traps
Pipe Jump to the det wall
Blow the det wall as soon as u can

Chilled Orifice
Better Demoman

I always find 4 pipes on the first ledge between CP2 and 3, and 4 at the bottom of the ramp up to the ledge helps take out those pesky snipers.
Other options include:

Covered balcony: It's pretty dark in there, so a few pipes scattered about can take the odd player by surprise.

Steps to CP3: Let them get to the steps then make them regret it as 8 pipes go off in their face.

Goes without saying really, but opening the back door to the church and taking out SG's with a plethora of explosive devices can give you a certain happy feeling inside!!!

There is also a certain satisfaction to be gained by purely by launching grenades everywhere at CP1.

I got a couple tips. You are a walking bomb, keep that in mind. AVOID ENGIES AT ALL COSTS! Grenade kills are very easy to get if you look down about 45 degrees and line up with the enemy. Also, toss mirvs around corners near cp3 to wipe out all sentries. Traps are easily avoidable if they're out in the open, especially if an engy is around. I find laying traps in non-visible corners near doorways as effective as leaving them out in the open. One more thing, and I know gibbon can relate, the detpack can kill any class in one hit! Lay one down in a bottleneck or in an open area where the enemy will be and watch the giblets fly! That's about all I know about the demo.

always be sure if u r gonna plug a hole to have pipes laid and then green ade laucnher full ,the detenation on the green ade launcher is about the same as one beep on a pine apple ade,so always take this into conisderation when heading up with some one.The back door on 3 can be TOTALLY plugged by one demo and sniper by laying 8 pipes and having one sniper takign what u can clean upmany of times me and gibs have took the back wall out of consideration for people to come thru even if a HW comes thru eats 8 then gibs can plant one any were on his body to finish him off,the transaction on laying pipes back is crucial also placement just in front of the door in case a faster class come thrus but then a few in the actual door way ,with this being 2 players taking off the alternative route, leaves 8 to fight on the fronts of cp3 ,also you may not get alot of frags but u will play a important role ,taking out there hw and soldiers.

The other day I learned the most valuable demoman tip of my entire TFC career. Here it is:

Don't ever use your primary launcher.

Sounds simple, but it is genius. Use the secondary, even in 1v1 fights. You can control when it detonates, so even if you miss, you can detonate while its sailing by your opponents head (while still deals a lethal blow). Keep in mind that each round is a gren. You dont need to discharge all 6 to kill any class. A full launcher is always enough to kill 2 enemies. The key is not to panic, you have lots of armor as a demo, be patient. Launch one pipe, detonate it, launch second pipe, detonate it, launch third pipe....etc. Laugh at those chasing you with shotguns, you have the most firepower in the game. One more thing i noticed, people dont seem to prime mirvs the same way they prime normalgrens. The mirv detonates with the same initla punch as the frag gren, so use it in a similar manner. The secondary detonations give you the time you need to put a couple more pipes in your tube...

In avanti, i dont ever lay traps, unless i'm guarding flag. There is just way to much action to sit around and wait for it. So get out there, blow the church and blow up some bad guys.
