Sounds good Kixx, we were talking about taking the kids to Disney in December, but that is only if we're not going to SA this year. Not sure what were doing yet .

Thanks everyone for your info about the dogs

I used to have a Rough haired Collie (or a Lassie dog) - these really are beautiful and smart dogs - a little timid to loud noises - but great with kids - only down side is they cast alot, but with grooming that aint a problem - Another really lovely dog is the Dulux Dog (or the Old English Sheepdog to all the non brits about).

Most dog are great with kids as long as they know their place in the house - however the pitbull has a bad name - and from what I c pretty much deserves it (tho u do get exceptions on BOTH sides, so always be watchful)

I want a dog again - but my wooden floor says no (so does the wife)

Strontium Dog is a wonderful dog (and u get used to the smell)

My ant and uncle had a friend who had a pitbull, they have known him and the dog for quite some time, one day the dog jumped up and bit my ants nose off, it was hanging from a thread, the nose got sowed back on and she’s fine, don't know what triggered the kill instance but since this and all the other stories don't think ill ever trust a pitbull.

On the other hand it’s like comparing it to a group of people
9\11 was a sad day for all, but just because a couple of Muslims had a few short circuits in their head does not mean you accuse them all.

That's sad what happened to your aunt, but completely irrelevant IMO.

It didn't attack the owner, and like humans if we see something we don't like we go off on it. That is a pitbull. If people were smart they wouldn't keep there dog around company in the first place whether they knew the dog or not. I had a mix dog of lab and something else, and he was a people dog, but every so often he would snap if he saw something our invited guests would do. It's common sense to keep your dog away from company period. A dog is a protector to your family not a freaking side show for people to pet.

On the subject of Doberman, they are great dogs. My aunt has had two, a King Doberman which weighed 140 pounds, and now a regular which still weighs around 100 pounds. The only downfall i see to having little kids around them is that they often get really excited and jump around a lot. And frankly, 100 pound doberman > 40 pound kid. Just something to be careful about.
