You're favorite veggie has returned!
It's been a while since I've been on here - like a year almost? It's been crazy in the past couple of months. I've finished my first year of University and College at the end of April... I'm going to UofT Mississauga and Sheridan College for Art and Art History. Basically I get a BA from UofT and an Art History diploma from Sheridan. Lots of work. You can check out my portfolio at: http://www.orcish-design.net/galleries/ (there might be some mild nudity because of the models that I have to paint/draw but those have been marked).
Pretty much since May I've been working practically every day to save money for tuition and supplies. I hate summer jobs  . I should have joined the reserves…
It’s good to see that the ville hasn’t changed too much, from a quick look that is. I don’t know who’s on here anymore… It’s been so long .
Anyways, I just figured that I should let you all know what's been happening in my little veggie life. |

Tomato - Fruit or Vegetable?
Botanically speaking, the tomato you eat is a fruit. So is a watermelon, green pepper, eggplant, cucumber, and squash. A "fruit" is any fleshy material covering a seed or seeds. Horticulturally speaking, the tomato is a vegetable plant. The plant is an annual and nonwoody. Most fruits, from a horticulture perspective, are grown on a woody plant (apples, cherries, raspberries, oranges) with the exception of strawberries.
In 1893, the United States Supreme Court ruled the tomato was a "vegetable" and therefore subject to import taxes. The suit was brought by a consortium of growers who wanted it declared a vegetable to protect U.S. crop development and prices. Fruits, at that time, were not subjected to import taxes and foreign countries could flood the market with lower priced produce.
