I have a few questions for those playing on tv4. Right now we have a vote in place with all the default maps including one custom.
This page tells me how popular the different maps are right now... Custom map westwood is actually 2nd.
http://209.242.10.137/hlstatsx/web/hlstats.php?mode=maps&game=css
Now I need to know from our CS players...
Should we keep a map vote or change to a rotation? What rotation do you suggest? Custom maps in it? How are other popular servers doing it?
Are there maps on the list above that we should remove? Bad map? Nobody likes it? When it comes on it clears out the server?
Should we keep all maps available? If the players want to play it, so be it? That was my old motto on tv4 for years when it was tfc and dod, so currently im following it.
Additional custom maps? Which ones are popular? Tell me why.
This will give me an idea of what to focus on. I'm just starting to get familiar with the mod and I know many of you know the game well. Share with us your experience. Thanks! _________________

Well so far I like the mapvote system in place. And I havn't really noticed any particular map clearning out the server (except port). I'll give you more infor tonight, as I need to get ready for work _________________

i like the map vote system. it gives the chance of a little more variety. oh, since we're talking about Source games....would it be possible to have the same 'bot program' that CS Source has on DoD Source? i just recently installed both Source games and i've been playing a lot on the Ville CS serever..even when its just bots...so i can get a feel for the game..unfortuntately, i cannot do that with the Ville's DoD Source server...it'll probably help the server to fill up more often...just a suggestion! _________________

Unfortunally there is no bot program that we are aware of for DOD source as strange as that is...we are actively looking for a solution to this problem and looking for a solution to fill up the server.

how can you do a map vote? Never knew their was a public map vote option. . . But id say get port off of it, that map i think is just a horrible map in general.
One map i would like to see on it sometime would possibly be aztec. Other than that who knows.
P.S. CS:Source is not as scary as some might think, come and join us sometime. _________________

i'd say keep it like it is.
the mapvote at the end of the map is great. lets people chose what they want to play.
port indeed empties the server. one of the worst maps out there.
-edit-
just did a quick google.
http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/css_mappack/
seems like a couple of fun maps. don't know how they play though. _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |

Definitely keep the mapvote. I like being able to choose what maps to play. I think it would be nice to add a few more customs to the list. _________________

Don't expect to see bots for a long long time in DODS. The game was built without bot waypoints/paths for the bots. _________________ P4E @ 4.00 Ghz, LeadTech 6800GT 420mhz/1.16Ghz, 1 gb Corsair PC 4400, Creative X-fi, Raptor

here's a mappack i put together with all the custom maps that are currently on the server:
http://users.theville.org/cobra/mappack.zip
unzip to:
C:\program files\Steam\SteamApps\youremail\counter-strike source
if it asks to overwrite files, click yes to all.
that should do it.

Haven't played in a few days but I like the mapvoting the way it is. Westwood is a small custom map and doesn't take very long to download off the server and it's a fun map. So keep it available.
But, having the option to go to other custom maps if an admin is on is nice too |

all the custom maps currently on the server also show up in the vote at the end of the round.
so no need for an admin to be on.
and install the mappack i posted and then you have all the customs that the server runs. _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |
