Over the last few weeks there have been increasing occurences of voice com foolishesness. Voice com is enabled so you can communicate battle details with your team as well as for some light conversation.

What voice com is not for includes but is not limited to the following: American Idol (or as the case may be Canadian Idol), yelling, cursing, whistling, humming, popping your gum, burping, farting (it has been done), or any other assorted noises your body is capable of making.

These have been causing disruptions during the games that are causing people to leave the servers. Accordingly, if you are doing something that is deemed to be abusing the voice com you will be warned once. A second occurence will cause you to be silenced. To become unsilenced you can leave and rejoin the server. However, if you abuse the voice com again on your return you will be banned for a week without warning. You get one warning. If you are warned and silenced one day and start abusing the voice com again on another you will be banned without a second warning. Warnings do not start over when the day does.

If you are banned for voice com abuse and wish to plead your case as to why you shouldn't be banned please use the Complaint Department. Many of you already know how to access the Complaint Department, for those of you that don't here is a link.

...or dufusses like me who forget to turn on the mike switch on their headsets and can't understand why no-one can hear him everytime he goes to speak, spending ages on the computer checking all the microphone settings...
Honestly...

Complaint Department unless you see one on another server. We're more than happy to change servers if there is a problem.

I have that problem too. I go to mute 1 person and it mutes 2-3 others as well, so I can't mute. LOL

I have to respectfully disagree with this post. There are times when that sort of stuff on voice com is excessive or inappropriate, but for the most part that is exactly the sort of stuff that makes The Ville fun. If people can't display their personalities or little quirks and eccentricities, then the server just becomes a bland place where people come to click buttons and wrack up kills.
Sure, I get a little mad sometimes when I'm trying to say "2 behind the suze" and someone is laughing at ellroy getting slapped all over the map, but I'm only mad for half a second and I realize it's just a game, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Long live The Ville, and remember to vote Man Boobies 2008!

Cake I'm with you on this one. It can get out of hand though. I've even done it and got booted for it. I enjoy the fun people here and like talking with them. I wish everyone used Vent that would be awesome and it wouldn't interfer with the game play. Maybe we should try and get the word out on vent #Crazy

OK heres a situation Ive been dying to bring up....here's my take on it:

Voice com is AWESOME! too awesome for others who can not resist the chance to MAKE everyone listen. I think mic spamming is a total epidemic at the ville. If you wanna chat go to a friggen chat room!!!! PLEASE!!!! I like to chit chat too, but I keep it to a minimum. I pretty much keep it like it we were actually sitting in a room. If theres one guy talking, don't talk louder to over power him, wait your turn! If someone is just bs-ing, shut up when someone speaks up about the game. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "garble garble something something BUNKER!" cuz I can't hear over the kook shouting about his dogs and cats. It really takes away from the game. On the other hand, like B.Tomatoe says, I like to bond with the villuns though. It's difinitly a fine line with lots of grey area. All in all, 90% of the time mic spamming doesn't happen, I just get sooo irritated at the selfish immature people who can't control themselves

BTW Ellroy doesn't spam, he knows when to shut up, BIG difference

agreed.

I get so annoyed with people who can't use voice chat like normal human beings. Iono... maybe I'm just a ville server III rule nazi.

Like for instance... The other night I was on and there were these 2 or 3 teens on. I'm a pretty good judge so right away when they started talking I knew something was going to go down with them. Then they start saying (input the real words yourself) "asian racial slur this" "you're a hispanic racial slur that" "shut up you stupid african racial slur." That's the shit that pisses me off. 1) If you are like that, then keep it to yourself. 2) If you talk like that it breaks the ville rules. 3)You're not cool.

No one was doing ANYTHING about it. I couldn't at the time.

I'm not saying that racism is a huge problem at the ville, because we all know its loving not... but that was just an example of what makes me mad. If you hear me or see me telling someone to STFU, that or someone with a really bad mic who yells is what usually went down.

Kids... kids too. they make me mad... a lot. But im nice about it.
