Well you see, i can still hear using my headset, but for some reason my mic isnt registering all the time.

I went into the sound thing in the Control Panel, and tested the hardware, where upon it can receive my mic, but besides testing the hardware, other programs won't pickup my mic.

It seems to have just stopped working randomly. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your soundcard. That and if your soundcard came with a program to setup your speakers make sure you have it set to headphones. Also make sure your mic is muted in your volume controls unless you like to talk to yourself. ummmmm As said above make sure all your hacks are turned off. O and 1 more thing USB headsets can be a pain in the A$$. Thats why I always make sure I get the ones that have jacks. That way everything is not in one plug they are seperate and there is no issue with all being in one plug .

If all else fails don't use it so much it's tired of talking.

I don't think there is Mal. Yeah they are handled by the soundcard in a round about way. For the most part they reconize them by the drivers. All I know is when I researched headphones awhile back most reviews said to stay away from the USB powered headsets. There are some out there that have a USB jack and standard jacks. The USB jack is used for bass inhancement. Basicaaly it throws some current at the speaker in the headset to make it rumble which in return gives you bass.

i know how to fix it, its very simple and i did the same thing with my headset and it worked beautifully. Also, it only takes 7 steps

1. Drink alot of mountain dew
2. Take the headset in your right hand.
3. Raise right hand high above head.
4. Pull your arm back just a little bit.
5. Move your hand forward as fast as you can.
6. Release at the point when your hand is just above parallel to the ground.
note: works best when headset is released against a solid object. A pillow or mattress simply will not do.
7. Walk over to the headset, which should preferably be in a multitude of small pieces, and let loose a good mountain dew fueled pee.

Works every time for me.

depends really, i've been using my plantronic dsp500 for 5 years now. (bought a new one 2 months ago, old one gave up after +4 years)
it's an usb headset with it's own soundcard. i have tried numberous headsets, and i must say that the plantronics one is the best i ever had/tried. as well for the microphone as the speakers.

I've never had luck with the USB headsets. Then as Simple said I've learned to stay away from them after having so much trouble. I bought a Plantronics one, and I returned it the same exact day. It was absolutely horrible. Never getting a USB headset again.
