some kids by me who used to think that meeting freinds thru gaming online was weird finally are starting to find out it's not. a few of kids have started playing xbox live by me in the past year and have made a few friends thru that.

the one thing that pisses me off is that people think that xbox live is such a revolutionary thing, even though gaming on the internet has been around for overa decade. if i remember right, xbox live won an emmy, its not even some that required work to do, its the same tihng as giving the internet an emmy.

Now that I have had some time to think about what I tried to say, I have come to a conclusion. People are more than just a series of codons on a DNA strand. You can't really know everything about a person from what they type to you through the internet. In some cases, you can get to know someone pretty well through the internet. However, some people could just be a liars who are nothing like who they say they are.

Anyway, it is always good to have people who you can talk to in person, otherwise you may forget how to talk to people in person. This may cause people to think you are weird.

I'm not sure if weird is a way to discribe Stevo. Whats beyond weird? Think Whatever it is, that's Stevo.

he does have a point, if we only talk to people online then we think thats our world and there ur cyber friends but u cant interact with them, only through gaming and if u go back into the real life u dont kno wat to do with real friends, i agree with stevo, but all in all u need friends in and out of the cyber world!!!

Hey all,

I started online gaming back in 1999, I found this game called Delta Force: 2, then Land Warrior, Task Force Dagger . I started playing it..spending time in this one squads server called ~LWK~, and I have been playing with those same guys and girls till just a couple of months ago when that game finally died. We scrimed, matched, and played tourneys together (kickin' azz I might add).
My one buddy on that squad built the computer for me I am using right now.(I live in FLorida, he lives in Brooklyn)..so of course there are some great friendships made thru the internet, and alot of great times playing games with those guys.
Since, playing in the Ville, theres alot of great peeps on there, too many to name....which makes it a unique server...cause there are waaay too many servers out there with little jerks on them, who just cause trouble. I don't know about yall, but I play games to have fun, and just kick back and chill. ( ok, I do get P.O. when I die too much by proners #alien )

BUT, I also think it is very healthy to actually get out and hang with your "non-cyber" friends, especially you guys and gals that are in your teens still. Go out and have fun !!! Life is too short...dont waste it sitting behind a comp.
I look back now....and thank God...they didn't have personal computers when I was growing up (I am in my late 30's ) (we had the old Radio Shack TRS-80's at our high school ...but no internet at that time).

Ok, I have written waaaay too much...my point is
Its all good!!!
k, thats my two cents....u got change?

Ltr,
Kixxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope no one thinks that I"m giving up my real friends for my cyber friends, if I gave that impression I'm very sorry.

But I agree with what everyone's saying, Stevo is weird, and teens, or anyone, should not let their lives revolve solely around computers and the interaction you can get across the net. Also Canadian posts more then anyone in one thread I believe.

Well I"m off to answer a few more posts, and then go outside to take advantage of hunting season. Toodles.

Well I would like to start off by saying that there are so many of you guys that I consider good friends that would actually care if something bad or good were to happen in my life.
Just to name a few of you....and i know there is many i will miss, but guys like: Snukums(mal), Canadian Rifle, Bullseye, Sexlica, Nanner, Frosty, bioweapon, moogly, stevo, tango, Kahlan, shewolf, my "little buddies" bender and private panda, imabulletmagnet, and all the EVA crew, and even the "Pat" we've recently come to know as "tickles"......gender still pending. I love you guys.
I spend most of my time on here as most of you know, not because i have a social deformity either! I like being in this gaming community because people are real. Nobody has to put on a mask to hide behind. And trust me......when you've worked in a church environment like i did for many years......you get sick of fake people!
So here's a toast to The Ville and people being transparent and real!
Eat, drink, and be merry.... for tomorrow we may die.

Calling me "Pat" is kinda ignorant., just because I don't go posting pics of myself to prove my gender doesn't mean I'm not who I say I am. Sorry , innocent, I'm just here to enjoy the game with everyone, didn't know proving my gender was part of the requirements to play.

wow didnt really think this thread would blow up to this size. you all know me(well most of you do) the ville was my first online gaming community that i felt i truly belonged to and was also the turning point in my online gaming (also the point when i got dsl so i didnt tie up the phone lines at home ) but it wasnt my first game nor my first clan/guild that i belonged to, other games have those titles but...

i lost my train of thought.....oh yeah, i have made many friends here and thru other communities and games that now i spend a lot of my time just talking to them, i remember most of my ns time when i was in nD i spent in the ready room just talking to people instead of gaming, and i know that if something happened to someone (blueruler) i would be greatly saddened even though i never meet the person in person(if that makes sense otherwise ill word it dif for you) and i know a bunch of people would be sad if something happened to me. not to say that i dont have any rl friends but i speak and hang out with them on a regular basis

and as for shewolf's post about telling people where i work that i game...that was revealed when a couple friends came into work and started talking about a game they were playing yesterday and a friend overheard, now i cant get the bastage to shut up about games sport game this and sports game that, and have you ever beat hl or hl2.....god the questions never stop.....but its all in good fun

now to sum this long post up, gaming friends good, caring, rl friends good caring, work friends annoying, funny....speaker post count +1 and maybe if doubleposted +2

speaker attack with +10 sword of power

""Only a gamer knows what it feels like to be out of mana." - Greg Kasavin

I love Greg. I love Greg like I love Tie Fighter. You want to know why? Because he's a gamer. You know what else that means? It means I love you! That is, unless you're one of those people who cheats at Counter-Strike; then all of you have been stricken from the love roster. The rest of you are my brothers (and sisters). We are a society. Not a society brought together by a common belief, like the NRA or the like, but a society brought together by common experience. You may think me crazy, but it's the same bond war veterans share. Don't believe me? Read on.

Most gamers have fought Diablo. Most gamers have fought Sephiroth. All gamers have fought Bowser. And only gamers have fought Diablo, Sephiroth, or Bowser. There's no Venn diagram here. If you jumped on Bowser or got toasted by Diablo, you're a gamer. What does that mean? It means that you can walk up to any other gamer, and there's a good chance they'll know what you're talking about. You say something like, "I didn't sleep last night because I was trying to get my body back from Lynx," and they might not have played Chrono Cross, but they damn well know what you're talking about. They don't have to have played the exact game, but they know the feeling. They've been out of mana. It's the shared experiences that bond us.

We've all played the fool when other kids said video games were stupid. We've all wondered why they didn't just use a phoenix down on Aeris. We're all outraged when senators say games have no merit. We've all said "Yes, Mom, I did my homework," when we meant, "I'll do my homework if I finish playing Half-Life for the third time." We've all lived lives that weren't our own, and we've all lived the same lives that weren't our own. It's like we all wake up from the same great dreams every morning. This isn't just for single-player games. We've all been shot by a "camper." We've all been annihilated by an expert when we first started. We've all played with 56k and wished it were broadband. But I've always thought the best memories, and the ones that created the best bonds, were the blend of single-player and multiplayer co-op.

I think my greatest co-op experience was in Rogue Spear. Mission 2 has something to do with an oil tanker, and there's a command deck really far away from the start zone where you can see two terrorists. If you snipe number one, number two will blow the tanker. If you snipe number two, number one will kill the hostages. So what do you do? I called up my buddy, and we did a countdown over the phone and simultaneously sent those dirty terrorists to their maker. It was the same thing in Counter-Strike. I'd bust into a room and take out one guy, and, while the other turned his auto-shotgun-of-death my way, my teammate would snipe him in the nick of time from the window (with a scout). That just makes you a special kind of warm inside.

When I saw Fight Club, and they talk about everyone knowing the other by the scrapes and bruises and just silently nodding, I thought of you, my brethren, sporting not bandages but sleepless eyes. Maybe we should start an army. Lord knows we could handle hordes of aliens if they ever decided to attack when we had chainguns! "
