Well I was trying quite a few things to see if I could get my lag to drop a little. I'm on a cable modem which is good, but still pings of 150-200 are high to me compared to other servers I play on that I get pings of 60-80. Anyway playing with one of the settings RATE, my by default is set at 7500.0000 and read a post somewhere that changing that will help your ping, sometimes around 10ms. Well I have mine set at 16000 now and really didnt change my ping but the choke/loss part went from getting around 3-4 to 0-1. When playing one the neo mods and using the remote rocket it would be really choppy and hard to control. Now with the rate set higher its really smooth and not laggy at all. Maybe this will help a few of ya.

Your rate is based on what the servers rate is. The maximum rate of any server can only be 9999.99. Most all cable/dsl users should already have there rate set at this. That's what that little drop down menu is for. What is your connection speed?.. 14.4, 28.8, 56k etc.. When you select one of these it automatically sets your in-game rate. The Ville servers all have different rates.. 1 & 2 are set 6000, 3 is 9999.99, 4 is 6000 & 5 is 9999.99.

Try setting rate to 9999, it's the highest that will still help you, anything beyond it is unnoticeable. Here is my Config from last semester when I had cable. It's pretty much stock with a few things here and there to help me out.

ok, makes a little more sense but if IV is set at 6000 and mine is at 7500 with remotes giving lag, then set it to 16000 (or effectively 9999) why does the choppyness or lag go away?
