Kahlan was lucky to get to see a shuttle launch in person. I just read that there may not be another one for a while. They saw a chunk of foam fell off the tank during the launch. A NASA spokesman said no more flights until the foam issue is resolved. They've been using these things since the '70s, I wonder if the foam has been an issue this whole time.
Here's the Associated Press article.

This could be a long time. It would seem that they better approach this a little differently.
that is too bad. Nice timing Kahlan! _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

When i saw the news this morning about the debris and all...i IM'ed Kahl and said she had maybe seen the last shuttle...turns out i was right.
The NASA program long overdue for an overhaul. They and the government oversight groups need to rethink what NASA is all about and what people expect from their space program...after all we pay for it therefore it is our space program. In all honesty i think the space program is a waste of time and tax paying dollars until they can prove that it is worth it. I am wondering more and more each day why don't we go back to the moon why don't we do more worthwhile things. Is it the media is so happy to report the bad things such as this and things such as the space station losing air or whatever the problem of the day is for NASA. I know i might be in the minority here and i know i might have started a political debate...that is not my attention we are just talking about the space program here nothing more nothing less.
I would be curious to think what yall thought what could be improved what could be taken away (lets keep it as real as possible no super sci fi stuff like worm hole tech or stuff like that)...and if i anyone thinks that i have violated the political rule please tell me and ill delete this.

um i don think this is sc fi but use some super Glue on that foam! lol I was thinking that maybe they need to create something to hold the foam stuff on during takeoff instead of it flying off _________________

I think everyone is overreacting. If I recall correctly the shuttles have been hit by over 15k objects while in operation, mostly during launch. We have only lost 2 units during the lifetime of the system. Do we need a new system? Yes. We need one with capability for greater range/or payload. However, we should not get rid of our current system just because space is a dangerous place. |
