Didn't see the point the US raising its terror level though, the most basic analysis of Al-Q's tactics shows us that they'll hit one place, then go to ground for months before striking again - don't think they've ever struck multiple targets in multiple countries so far. |
When we (the US) see a new color on the chart we feel better about the nation's security, so they raised it and all is safe.
I was sadden to hear about it, but happy with the way people feel about it, from what I have heard/read anyway. _________________

Hey guys, long time listener, first time poster............. um, nm.
To the question about why they do these things: It's because they want to make us react to them. They think that if they can get a big enough reaction out of the public, then that will force the government to take action to stop the violence, i.e. turning tail and running. They feel that by killing civilians, the rest will cry out to the powers that be that we need to be out of wherever the terrorists don't want us. They also think that if the government doesn't listen to the people, then the people will eventually change the government themselves, thereby achieving the terrorists goals of regime change and removal of our presence from wherever it happens to be that they're mad about this week.
Now if you want to know how, as human beings, they can do these kinds of atacks, I suggest you read the Koran. I'm not trying to get anyone to "sympathize" or "empathize" but I think it helps to know what their mindset is. Since I started my new job (Basically Counter-Terrorism), I have had the opportunity to go through the Koran at my leisure, and what I have read is interesting. You would come away with a new persective if you did.
Anyways, that's enough for me. How's everyone doing otherwise?

You should all note that I don’t profess to know everything in this area nor do I mean to offend anyone by what I may say.
I agree with what Az said - though I'd add that perhaps they also want to remove any governments in the Middle East that have been placed there by the West and are "pro-West"...
The important thing to remember is that what Al-Q and all of the other "extremist" groups are doing with Islam and the Koran isn't right at all... This isn't really a war about religion, they're just using religion as a cover and a basis of gaining popular support for their movement (Islam is one of the largest religions on the planet after all). Religion is a powerful tool, that when utilized correctly, can change the course of history and world events. According to several Arabic/Muslim friends that I know, Islam is going through a stage similar to the Renaissance and Reformation that Christianity went through at about the age of 1400 or so. Radical extremists from both sides of the religion are battling for what the basic principles of the religion should be. What Al-Q and other “Muslim Extremists” are doing with the Koran and Islam is simply one interpretation of many available.
As to why they are capable of wreaking such unimaginable attacks against other human beings can also be explained through their reference to individuals of the western world as “infidels”. It’s like the Nazis referring to Jewish people as “rats” and “rodents”; or the extremists in Rwanda calling the Tutsis and moderate Hutus “cockroaches”. If you consider an individual as being sub-human you don’t feel as bad when you do terrible things to them.
It is also important to note that every religion in the world – Christianity included – has participated in “holy wars” and have committed atrocities against other religions.
Overall, it’s too bad that Al-Q (and similar organizations) are not considering that when the world’s oil supply runs out (and it will in my lifetime – I believe that the figure is about 30 years from now though I could be wrong) the Western World will no longer care about what happens in the Middle East as we focus on some other area instead. |

I really wish Greebo's "prediction" had been right. Unfortunately the official death toll as of this morning's news (11 Jul) stands at 52. _________________

i dont know if your getting the details were getting over here on your news channels, but its looking as if all 4 of the bombers died in the blasts, so it makes them the first ever suicide attacks in UK. Police say all the bombers were uk born and 3 of them are from west yorkshire, and traveled down to london on train thursday morning. police have launched a series of raids in and around leeds in Yorkshire this morning and arrested 1 suspect and issued 6 arrest warents for other yet untraced suspects. |

I read that at least 3 were of Pakistan origin, but were citizens of England. So far I don't think they have stated any connection to a group as of yet.

I'm afraid that if the more radical side of the religion wins the struggle, we could be looking at battles or a war that will span generations, not just months. Doubtful that it will take on the spectre of the cold War of the 60's, but if these radicals do obtain WMD's, the consequences scare the hell out of me since I have no doubt they have the will/desire to use them. Hopefully it will not come to that, and calmer heads/philosophies prevail on both sides. _________________ Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell.
