Hello everyone! Good tidings to all. I've brought this up a few times in the forums here. I got a few links to some generic websites, but nothing definitive. How the heck do you get "recruited" into a clan? I've been playing DoD and TFC for years, and never once been asked to an "interview" or anything. I would LOVE to be a part of TVR. I play here almost daily. I would like to learn from respectable people looking to have fun, and team-play-communications are what I'm really looking for lessons on. Anyone know of a clan, guild, club, or squadron needing a dedicated player?

for "TheVille" clans (=USV=, TVR, <eVa>)..you have to be patient...its all invites only..just wait and participate...you'll get your chance

Edit: (had to do some researching)
If you idle in #scrimdod on gamesurge.net you will prob find scrims being arranged by DOD teams- do a "<----Ringer" and this way you get to play with clans and experience competitive play. You might be asked to join their team too

If you would prefer to make it more direct without getting the feel, or if that method doesn't get you any offers: You can post on the CAL DOD forums looking for members/clans, use http://www.dodsource.com, the Gotfrag DOD recruiting forums, or you can visit #DoD-recruiting on gamesurge IRC.

that should get you started, if it is competitive you want

I am in one for NS... I find it enhances gameplay because I know there are those who play and want to continue playing for some time to come. Granted you have the ... a$$holes who clan, but you also have them in pubbers - clanners just happen to be more identifiable because they are either wearing a tag or have more .. skill.. I hesitate to say skill, but they have dedicated more time to learning the ins and outs of maps and such. Now I know there are some pubbers that do this too. It is just that your average clanner vs. pubber, the clanner is more serious about the game. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it. I enjoy pubbing, in both DoD and NS. I didn't want to join a clan at first for ns, because I didn't trust em. Now when a Ville based clan started with BH in the lead, I was still hesitant, but more open to it. It took some time, seeing that they weren't all about the winning and losing aspect, that most of the clans they played with want to learn more, and are open to teaching. Being in the clan, it makes it known among higher level players that I am open to learning, as is the clan. We have had players who are normally assholes when asked to help come and teach us "tricks" to aiming, by running us through drills, having some teach us how to bunny hop, teaching us to blink/swipe/blink/meta/blink/swipe effectively.

Overrated? It depends on what you want from the game in my opinion. IF you want to learn a lot, play against better people and get better through trial and error, a clan is the way to go (keep in mind I am only speaking from my experience in NS). Pubbing has it's perks too, you don't have to be as serious about learning, and you have more time to just enjoy, but you have those opportunities within a clan. If you find a clan who believes more in learning and improving than their statistics, then IMHO it is ideal, you have fun while learning. And it isn't just about learning. In a clan, you can scrim a clan, and know that your team is doing what it is supposed to be doing, they are scouting, building what needs building, they aren't ramboing or sitting around doing nothing. They are more .. reliable - you can count on them to cover your back and do what needs being done without having to beg to have it accomplished.

you also need to make a name for yourself...get yourself known..atleast 90% of people who play DoD here regularly know who I am...im usually loud...or pwning...or an A**hole (that one isn't recommended) but just get yourself known...and play decent...you will be invited to a clan...odds are not TVR or EVA or USV especially right away...but any clan is worth it for a start

Alright, while you are at practice, I am not saying that being in a clan is the only way to achieve these things, because it isn't. I don't want to insult anyone, I was just stating first the clan-side view - then dinner started to burn so I had to cut it short before I kept rambling and dinner was wasted.

Not being in a clan doesn't make you less dedicated to your mod. Not being in a clan isn't something to be looked down on. It is just that for some people it is easier to be grouped with like minded individuals, while others perform/learn more on their own.

Actually, I just make it another post, to avoid confusion.

I am in a clan, PWG, it's inactive at the moment but I was actively involved in TFC leagues(2-3 practices a week, matches wednesday and sunday) I learn a lot from it, progressed as a player then got burned out. Right now, I'm at the point where I feel I know pretty everything there is about TFC. I'm not the best player and I have a lot of room from improvement. But, I don't take game very seriously at all anymore, I only play to have fun and play with the people I like. Some may say that the people you like to play with are in clans. True but that doesn't mean I can't play with them if I'm not in the clan.

Kahlan, you were right about learning a lot from playing against better people and being in clans. I would probably join NS clan or a DoD clan if I were interested in the mod enough, but I'm not.

I guess I worded it a little wrong, clans aren't really overrated, they just don't interest me as they do some people.

And for the record killer( I asume you were directing that post toward me), I have been invited to join eVa, USV(JFf), and BR
