ok here's the deal gents and ladies...this is what I got and it gives me one hell of a messed up screen or says not recognized....what do I do?!

wow, I remember when i had the voodoo5 5500... um...kam that vid card is like 7 or 8 years old. it's probably toasted.

it's not toasted because I can run War3 on it....so I am wondering if steam can work with it

I would think you can, but you need to change your video settings. Dont use software mode, it will be too slow/not work with DOD. Try the other two video settings and see if you get acceptable performance or not.

Also drop your resolution and image quality down while testing.

There also used to be a 3dfx driver for the regular half life that had to be used for opengl mode, I don't know if that is included in steam or if you have to find it somewhere.

The Voodoo cards are old and need to be updated. A friend of mine was having issues with TFC and DOD just recently. He upgraded to a 9200 ATI card for under $100 and everything works awesome now. Your better off spending the dough.
