Does anyone know by chance why a computer might restart randomly? Its happening occasionally iwth this paper-weight of a PC beside me right now... It doesnt matter what Im doing, it just restarts randomly... Ive scanned for viruses and have found nothing... I dont really understand why this is occuring... Any ideas?

There could be a lot of reasons why it could be doing that. Maybe it's overheating or something.

If it goes a longer stint to begin with, then restarts more and more frequently, then it's an overheating problem. Other than that, I can't see there being any software problems other than a piece of malware.

When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of it?? If you get too much dust in it then it can overheat pretty easy.

Be carefull Potato!!!

My computer was doind the same thing a few month ago and it was the power supply. I've neglicted to fix the problem and it cost me a brand new computer (finally, is is a good thing... I changed my old PC for a 3.2Ghz...).

So if u want to change your comp, keep it like that, but if you want to keep it for a few year, check for the power supply!!!

(Check who's the manifacturer of your power supply... if it's a Deer, don't ask any question, change it RIGHT NOW!!!) Those power supply are the crappiest thing ever built by human!!!

Good luck

It could be a bad stick of RAM.

Survey Says??

Do you have a spare PS Spud?? I just happen to have a few laying around collecting dust right now. I can get an idea for how much it would be to ship. If it isn't too much then I could probably send it to ya if you pay for the shipping. I gotta check with my better half before I can commit to that though.

maybe I should back up my files? Lol... I dont have a spare PS laying around - though I do plan on getting a new computer soon... Even my mom is starting to get annoyed with this current comp... But I dont think she would go for a new PS... And, I dont think she would go for me cleaning the comp. But, whats the best way to clean the inside of the comp? Any preferences?

Oh, P.S., what would happen if the PS went? Would it cause any possible damage to the computer or the current user?
