|
|
I complained earlier this week about my ping spiking to 300 every time I got into close combat fights, ever since dod 1.2.
I experimented with console commands, and trying "rate 5000" instead of "rate 2050" helped a lot! My ping is now back to normal.
Note, I'm not talking about "cl_rate". it is "rate"
Hope it can helps some others. _________________ PJ --- ancient IDIOT with a rusty CROWBAR....

Rate supposedly should be 7500-8500.
Some say higher like 20 000.
Then there's debate over cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate being to high for the server or to low for the client.
Once you get into that you get into rate hackers with low rates for skipping along and being missed while they can shoot fine and interp on both sides. _________________

Yeah, I use this 1337 }{4>< all the time. Combined with a little experimentation on "cl_updaterate ##" it can seriously stabilize your gameplay when you're on a fluctuating network.
EDIT!!!!

Uh-oh... now I'm worried I might have been accidentally hacking, for real!!!

I wouldn't worry about it, if you were abusing rates hard core people would notice for sure. Since rates seem to be such a mystery I'm sure everyone's done something similar, I get interp shots when my update and cmdrates are 101 (which they're suppose to be) but at 40 shots don't reg. It's enigmatic. _________________

I've been messing around with my rates and such lately and I really don't know what the hell I'm doing.
cl_updaterate 101 - I get green lines with a bit of yellow
cl_cmdrate 101 - I get purple lines, little red
rate ????? - It really doesn't seem to make a difference, it's at like 6000 now.
interp - .9 I really don't know what the hell this is.
I've got the most Amish broadband connection out there right now. I get like 13.0 kb/s on downloads although I ping usually at 80-120 at TV IV.
What can I do to make things not suck? I think my 1.2 rates are pretty messed up. |

Ho boy, set your interp back to default. Changing that's a no no and considered pretty hackerish. What I meant by getting interped was the lag shots, like the air behind you getting shot and you dying and vice versa. You dont wanna help that along :-| _________________

... Okay. I thought I'd mess with every setting that I saw and see how much more terrible I could play.
What is default? .1? or 1.0? Er... I think I set it to .09
Does that mean I was shooting dragging hitboxes easier or my dragging hitboxes were being shot easier? |

Lol means you were shooting them easier. I did that once, I downloaded a config from 1911, had no idea but I started noticing the difference and found out later so I changed it. Default I think is.... 0.1.

Well I was still just as terrible after I changed it. If anything I think I've found that it's harder to hit guys... maybe because their hitboxes weren't where they were supposed to be. God...
I dunno, I was reading that it was once a locked console command but is now unlocked, on account of that I figured it was safe to change it around since some doods on DoD.net were talking about it. I'll switch it back, retain my un-hax0rness suit and see if I can pull my K : D out of the gutter. |

youd get ur ass kicked in tfc for trying to change ur interp
with my cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate at 101 i get awful awful choke, and gets worse and lossy when other people are around and shooting... 20-30 works alot better, arent they the default? _________________
