I usually put my sensitivity at 20, especialy for mgs and sniping. The biggest problem I have is that my crosshair moves in 3 pixel increments and it sucks for shooting at somebody really far away with a rifle. Plus I'm really lazy and when I move the sensitivity down it seems like way to much work to turn and stuff. An idea that occured to me a couple of days ago is to see if I can bind F9-F12 to 4 different mouse sensitivities. Does anyone know if thats possible? And how? |

bind f9 "sensitivity 20"
lather. rinse. repeat.
You can also use up to 6 decimal places I believe. _________________

just so you can do "sensitivity 0.000001" for those REALLY accurate shots or those with 160000x120000 resolution where every mouse movement used to be 1000 pixels. well, in giganto land that is. |

I have been working on this for the past month or 2, I still haven't found a happy medium, and I often change my sensi. with different guns. I perfer around 5 if I a going to snipe or use any type of rifle. If I am using the bar I up it to around 10-13. I have also had alot of problems using my dads computer when mine is busy doing something else. The accelerating mouse problem jfet had might be what is wrong, not sure if it has anything to do with it being wireless, and if the windows settings will affect the ingame settings. |

I can't say this is true for every mouse, but it is for mine. Every time I play, I have to disable my mouse's drivers, because it will otherwise lag/not work while I'm playing the game. I also had a problem with binding my mic to the mouse key which is used to go "back" in my browser. To ensure successful usage of the button, I had to close just about everything before starting a game up. _________________

heres how it works in |MM|
high mouse sense = rushers, for quick turning and mainly auto use
low for defense = for setting up lines of fire and then just waiting for enemies _________________

Binding keys like that is a good idea. |
6.26546 is much diufferent than 6.26545
the first is more of a auto sensitivity, the latter more of a rifleman _________________

alot of people believe that increasing mouse sensitivity higher and higher up towards infinity is the way to go.... but i disagree with this
i find that you hit targets A LOT better with low sensitivity. this is important for guns that required hitting on the first shot to be good. (kar, k43, garand) i used 3 for a long time when i was using all weapons and slowly worked down to 1. if you go straight to 1, you wont be able to prime grenades properly and you'll feel like you're walking in slo-mo
fyi, most top rifle users use about 1-3. most top bar/stg users 3-10. the autos in my clan use around 5 or 6 sensitivity i believe.
also note that it can be tricky comparing sens. because you're mouse and windows settings play a factor too. in general though the lower you go the more accurate you will be, at the expense of loosing twitch manuverability.
a couple of tricks:
to disable the automatic mouse acceleration that windows enforces...
right click on your dod icon, go to properties, and in the "target" box add this:
Code: | -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -full |
also dont rely on high sensitivity to control BAR, it can be done pretty low... and easily at 5 or 6
i have my "v" key bound to switch between rifle/light auto mode and heavy auto mode. this does 3 things:
1) adjusts sensitivity (1 for rifles, 1.5 for autos)
2) changes crosshair (dot for rifles, mid-size X for autos)
3) adjusts fps_max (100 for rifles, 50 for autos) controlling BAR recoil is much easier if you set your max fps down to 50 or so... try it you'll see!
Code: | alias riflemode "sensitivity 1;wait;cl_xhair_style 15;wait;fps_max 100;bind v riflemodeoff"
alias riflemodeoff "sensitivity 1.5;wait;cl_xhair_style 0;wait;fps_max 50;bind v riflemode"
bind "v" "riflemode" |
you can adjust the values to preference, like 3 for rifles and 6 for autos or whatever.
not all of that is really necessary to play dod, just fun to tweak it _________________

... That is freaking nuts Rizzo. Just goes to prove that there's a lot out there - the technical nuances of the game that can help a guy play better.
Do you recommend toggling sensitivities like that? I've never really found it hard to play at any sensitivity under 6 - I can adapt quickly when I switch it around it seems. But I think actually toggling it on the fly would be different, does it take a while to get used to it? |

For fun, put sensitivty up to 99, prone in spawn and start pulling the mouse. You'll spin like a top! _________________ the garand is fixed... horrayzors! |
