Jeez I'm a noob. I've only been playing since April 2003, right after 1.0 was launched.

I've been playing since Steam came out. It loaded that mod when I loaded Steam. I tried it, liked it, and have played ever since, but I still SUCK!

After 5 years of playing TFC and old Quake TF, competing with the Crowbar Swinging Idiots, I got tired of it. When The Ville started a new server with DoD about one year ago (it was Dod 3.0 i think at the moment), I decided to give it a go.... and was hooked instantly. That was the kind of game that fit perfectly my sneaky bastard style of play

Oh, and I disagree about the fact you get more l33t the longer you play. The first 6 months, maybe, but the real trick to get better is to compete, not to play longer.

Other than my friend in town who told me about these Half Life mods, I
know 0 people who play these type of games in NE Ohio, since that's
where I live when not at College.

Btw, someone posted a few replies back that he's not one of those
"1.0 rocks!" type people. Well, lemme tell you... 1.0 DID rock!!
I mean, come on, I didn't need to have skill back then, just run around
with a garand and shoot at people without having to stop!
Plus, the maps... Mainz, Caen, Snowtown, Hill, Valley, and of course, OMAHA!
The beach map without objectives, no back area, just beach, and top
hill area. Woot! (And my personal favorite, REAL spawn camping!
getting past the last flag in Caen without being seen, hideout near
Axis spawn till you everyone leaves, then jump over the barrier, prone,
and kickass! Or getting to the top of the hill and camping BEHIND axis
members when they spawn in dod_hill... can't beat it... none of this wussy fake-spawn camping...)

Its not that hard to spawn camp on avalanche if you are the axis side. I'm not going to post how but I know just about anyone else knows where it is. I never spawn camped from there, but I loved to jump down and shovel everyone from the back, now that was fun (I don't do this on The Ville anymore because i got banned for a day for doing it a month ago). I do go to white widow 24/7 avalanche every once and awhile to do it though.
