If you have Comcast, you are entitled to a free speed upgrade. They recently upgraded everyone to 3Mbps up from about 1.8 Mbps

To upgrade, do one of the following:

For people with a router:
1. Go to your router's control panel, and find a button that says "DHCP Release" or something equivalent, and press it
2. Unplug the power cord from your cable modem
3. After leaving power off for @ LEAST 2 minutes, plug cord back in
4. Go to your router's control panel, and find a button that says "DHCP Renew" or something equivalent, and press it.

If you do not have a router, simply do steps 2 and 3

Here is an example of speed. I did a speed report just now on http://pdx.speakeasy.net

2004-02-07 15:16:19 EST: 3458 / 244
Your download speed : 3458418 bps, or 3458 kbps.
A 422.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 244439 bps, or 244 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

i already have had comcast for ever now we had ATTNT before comcast sold them out then we had know chos and we switchedright when comcast came out.

omg i guess it worked according to the tech nerd in the hosue i showed. he typed some stuff and hit a button and POW up to 3MBps
