Ok, since I cant really upgrade my current computer without upgrading the motherboard and cpu I decided that it may be an idea to look into getting a new system - since Id only spend a couple of hundred bucks more. I have two options: 1 buy a cookie cutter PC - something that I may do if I find a good deal for almost the same price/parts or 2 build my own (or have someone do it for me) computer. That being said Ive designed a PC - I need input as to parts and such and I also need to find a good motherboard... I prefere Asus for motherboards however I will take anything thats stable and quick. Below are my PC specs - I know absolutly nothing about motherboards so I haven't included one. If anyone has a good motherboard thats new and runs well then Id love to hear what brand and what name it has. Below are my specs:
Lian Li PC60USB ATX Case CAD$199.99 - USB Ports, Fans, and PowerSupply included
Intel Pentium 4B 533FSB 2.4 Ghz 512K Cache CAD$239.99 - I would go 800 K but no one sells them where I live
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer Sound Card CAD$104.99
LG 52x24x52 CD-RW (Bulk) CAD$64.99
LG 16X DVD-ROM (Bulk) CAD$64.99
512MB PC2100 266Mhz DDRAM CAD$124.99
Maxtor Diamond Plus 8 40GB 7200RPM Hard Drive CAD$94.99
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB Video Card CAD$279.99
Sub total: $1174
Total: $1350
NOTE: I already have speakers, a keyboard, a mouse and a monitor that work fine so Im not including them in the PC. Im also probably going to network my current PC with my new one - just so that I can get the best of both.
Thanks for any help,

Make sure you check prices online, that can save you more than a few cents in the long run. That, and most places will drop shipping prices if you buy enough. _________________ Under construction!!! |

Damn Hat, I am going to have to remember this post. Although, by the time I get around to building myself a computer that stuff will all be out of date! Doh! _________________ Amen!
