Maybe we could have one server steam and the rest not? I just installed it and really don't want to take a month long ville hiatus  though it was kinda fun pwnin some other servers, haven't played anywhere but here for months and it's refreshing to be better than some of the players for once.
or maybe steam really did drive off some of the h4x? lol

Downloaded steam the 24th of September, it took an hour and a half to d/l (750mb!).
I installed it in less than twenty minutes and it worked fine from the beginning. The update engine was fast (for me at least) and I find this software generally easy to use and pretty well round-up for online gaming. The find server and find a friend thingies are quite fast and interesting and, I expect, will only get better...
I guess I'm one in a million !
