Thats right, thats the name of Potato's game. Ive been working on it for about 2 months - I got a bet to see if I can do it in under a year for $500 . Ill do anything for $500 ahha.. Anyway, read below for some info.

What is ASF?
ASF stands for American Special Forces. In it, you can play Multiplayer (and single - in later versions) using US Navy SEALs, US Rangers, or Opposing forces (militia, terrorists, etc etc).

What game engine will ASF be based on/made in?
The game engine still has yet to be decided BUT, I can tell you that it will most likely be HL2. Therefore it will probably be a MOD.

Whats game play like?
For now, game play will probably be Multi-player based however there may be some training stuff added in.
It will be a multiplayer game at first - as I said before - single player will be added later. If your a US Navy SEAL you have some class options (each is described in detail below) - Breacher, Normal Infantry, Demolitions Expert, Heavy Weapons and sniper. If your a US Ranger you have: Sniper, Normal Infantry - armed with both shotguns and M16s, Communications Expert, and Heavy Weapons. If your opposing forces you also have options and weapons.

Heres an overview of the available weapons:

MP5s (for Navy SEALs) ,
M16 (for Navy SEALS and for Rangers),
M16 with a Night Vision Scope attachment (for SEALS and Rangers - secondary weapon option),
M16A1 + 40mm M203 Grenade Launcher attachment ( M203 is a single shot grenade launcher for a M16 A1 for Rangers only),
Benelli Super-90 (for SEALS breachers),
M60 machine guns (for SEAL and Ranger Heavy Weapons),
grenades (for all classes),
C4 Explosives (for SEAL Demolition Experts),
Bouncing Betties (for SEAL Demolition Experts),
Claymores (for SEAL Demolition Experts),
Mines (for SEAL Demolition Experts), machine guns (for SEALS or Rangers),
Colt .45 (for all calsses/teams
Knife (self explanitory),
SR-25 Sniper Rifle (for Snipers),
Ak-47 (for opposing forces),
Hummers + mounted M2 HB (Rangers can man the gun only but SEALS can ride inside with other people),
Trucks + mounted M2 HB (for opposing forces),
Trucks with an empty flat bed (for transportation/attack for opposing forces),
UH-60 Black Hawks (for Rangers Transportation),
AH-6 Littlebirds (for Ranger Straifing runs),
Straifing runs for US forces (UH-60 Black Hawks or AH-6 Littlebirds are called in to either gattling gun, Minigun, or rocket enemy positions [rockets automatically target enemy vehicles]),
RPGs (opposing forces),
M72 Light Anti-Armor Weapon (for Rangers's Heavy Weapons).

Each class can use their specific weapons - they CAN NOT use another classes weapons (only their ammo). You never loose any weapons so that doesn't really matter I guess .

SEALS are for tactical demolition/objectives, Rangers are for brute force and back up, Opposing forces are to do what they do best .

A SEAL Team's demolition can plant explosives - C4 is the only one on a timer (for breaching thin weak walls).

A Ranger Chalk's Communications Expert can call in Air support from US-60 Black Hawks, or AH-6 Littlebirds. Rangers and SEALS can go into UH-60 Black Hawks but only Rangers can repell out - SEALS need to get out by the air craft landing. Rangers can man the M2 HB AM gun on the Hummers - SEALS cant but they can ride. Opposing forces can use M2 HB AM guns on their trucks, or use their trucks as transportation. They can rocket, shoot/shoot down US Hummers and Air craft. Hummers can be repaired - by engineers. If a Black Hawk or Littlebird is shot down then Rangers and SEALS need to set up and hold a pirimeter for 3 minutes (a perimeter is started by touching the aircraft).

What types of Multiplayer missions can we participate in?
There are many different types of missions. Some are:

Tactical Insertion,
Convoy Escort/Destruction,
Perimeter Holding,
Command Point Runs - same idea as TFC Command Point levels,
Package Escorting,
Actual Real Life Missions that have been played out in the past (ie Somalia 1992/1993).

When can we expect ASF to be ready by?
Hopefully summer 2004.

Hope you guys like the idea. Im not taking anyone else on for this - I have to make it on my own for it to count in anyway. A website with images/renders will be posted up soon.

sounds good, except for a couple of your weapons choices. If you want a little more reality, then substitute the m4 carbine for the m16. None of the SF guys I have ever worked with use the m16. Grunts do. SF aren't grunts, that's what they'll tell you. If you do want to put an m16 in there, then make it an A2, A1s came into service during Vietnam, or you can skip straight to the A4, which is what the USMC will be going to in the next couple of years. All varieties can accept the 203 launcher, but the m4 and A4 have the new rail system which makes it easy to add or remove attachments like IR pointers, reflective sights, and other thingamajiggers . Besides, M4s are way better than A2s in urban settings, they're smaller, you can easily add attachments to suit your mission, and did I mention they're smaller? AS far as the m60, I haven't seen one of those in years. The mg of choice now is the 240G (7.62mm) or the 249 SAW (5.56mm). If you want heavier than that, everyone uses the M2 .50 Cal MG or the MARK 19 40mm grenade launcher (that thing was used like a 2 dollar hooker in Iraq). They are all vehicle mountable, as well as man-packable (but I pity the fool who has to lug the M2 around, that suckers frickin huge!!).

Hmm. Ill check the A4s out - I was going by what they have on the SEAL's website. Though prehaps Ill have the M16s as a smaller weapon - similar to the Super Shot gun vs the Shot gun in TFC. It would always be good to have a back up . Thanks for the tips Az! Man I cant imagine how big the M16A whatevers will be in like 10 years...

No you get weapons assigned to your class you dont buy them.

I liked it dude, it looked pretty good. What gave you the idea for the collapsible stock? I've never seen it that way, but it was definitely hot. I also took a look at your other models, and those were pretty hot as well, GJ!

keep it up and I'm sure you'll definitely have something great in the end.

We also use the beretta m9 9mm. The only thing about it is the fact that traditionally, 9mm pistols lack stopping power, thus the reason why SF guys use the Colt .45. It used to be the issue army for the military, until that whole NATO thing. They wanted a NATO compatible caliber pistol, thus the 9mm won out. It's actually kind of funny, under the Law of War, we are not allowed to use any ammunition designed to inflict "greater than usual" amounts of pain, hence no hollowpoints, flechettes, or teflon rounds. Although the Depleted uranium rounds our warthogs use is perfectly fine, hmmmmmm.

Hmm lol that IS kind of strange. Ok, prehaps Ill make both guns into the game. One as a primary and another as a secondary. Or prehaps only certain classes will have a gun. Thanks Az.

Sextacular!!

You have to give them smg's, though. A game isn't complete without smg's (if you actually do take this to heart, put in a p90 )

I started to texture the SAW - Im hoping to have it as realistic as possible. Its the same link as before - farther up (two posts I think). Is it realistic though? I just want to know before I start to go any farther. NOTE: some parts of the texture isn't finished yet.
