Okay, once the game starts I am presented with a low-res splash-screen.
No console, no menu, pressed every key on the keyboard, nothing.
Ended up having to kill hl.exe to return to normal res.
Some 'game'.
Currently, Steam is a Steaming pile of BS. |

This is from counter-hack. They have a fairly nice Steam FAQ.
If you are connected through a router or firewall, you need to be sure the Steam ports are open, so Steam can properly communicate with the content and auth servers. Heres what you need to open up:
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive |
Hum.... euh... I have Zonealarm.... so how exactly do I do that?

I am behind a NAT box, and I have not had to do any of this
forwarding. |
