As soon as its updated I could let ya know, but right now its stuck at Create Account. Has been for about 20 minutes.  |

1. Do not try to uninstall it(does nothing). Let this thing work for the hours you need it to(might end up transfering content from your current HL(I never got that transfered)).
2. Yes, but you would play through your current HL(do not delete this yet).
3. Should, but probably with some modification.
I am starting to be making progress with steam. Part of my problem is that I wasn't completely warned that the content transfer would take hours and would look as if it wasn't doing anything(0 processor usage through it, hard drive light didn't blink(or at least not very noticably))

You can make a shortcut very easily by right clicking the game on the games menu and editing it that way.

its wonderful...Its still stuck on create account. Started this lame process at 5pm, now its 7:41.
nm, finally finished. Guess you can connect the same way, but to join a steam server you have to use the steam part. Not sure how Gamespy and Allseeingeye work with this yet. |

You will have to point them in the right place for loading the exe for the individual game.

thats nice and all, but since I paid for ASE, I kinda like it. Plus its all setup with buddies and servers...etc etc. Id rather not. |

well dont take this wrong, I do not like steam either.
But I imagine it is just due to change. I like the way it is. I assume in a while after converting I will say this is actualy cool.
I will miss my server watch if it does not work  but Im sure they will make a plug in to make it work again.
I mean really look at microsoft, there stuff works...right??? 
maybe if steam was named, cute blonde with big hooters...it would be easier to swallow 
life some how will go on.

Its alright. I mean if you didnt have a game browser like gamespy/ASE then its definitely an improvement for you. Or if you didnt have a buddy tracking in ASE then its ok. It doesnt have filters for custom games like TS so you have to scroll thru all the servers to find them, which I'm sure will be added eventually (I hope). My biggest gripe is with the won thing and 56k ppl. That and it crashed 3 times installing for me. Probably timeouts to thier server, but it doesnt tell you that that happened so you guess, and kill and and start it again. shrug. It will be nice not to download big patches all the time, but I really dont see what we had as being broke.
As for cheat protection, ya right, doubtful. They will always find a way and once they do its just going to be the same, just a different tech to it. |
