Very nice read, KopiKat. Much you said I agree with fully. To sum up what you have said I will make this statement: Love, either too little, or too much, can bring even the most battle hardened human to their knees, and break them.

That being said, I believe love is one of the most important things lacking in our society today. Since when did it become ok and acceptable to treat your fellow humans with so much pain and suffering. Why is it ok for a father to abandon his children. Why is it ok for us to fight wars that will solve nothing. Why is it alright to get mad and strike someone for being against your point of view. In my eyes we are all human, I think it's time for some of us to prove just how human we are. That's what we need. We need people to stand together, and honor eachother, forgive and forget when it is needed. Noone should feel the need to kill, to wage war against nations. I don't care if you are black, white, brown, or even purple. You are still a human and you deserve to be treated as one.

On another note, I will have to buy that book and read it. It sounds pretty good and interesting.

Your point is flawed, you forget the root of it stems from the fact that human is only a common name for our species of animal. We can't just stop fighting and go on some hippy love trip. We evolved from predators, which are naturally aggressive, intelligent, territorial, and violent. These things are what got us where we are now as a species and are thousands of years in the making; the ability to completely wipe out these traits is impossible even in 10 generations because of the slow rate at which we reproduce.

Our ability to kill and destroy is as fundamental and necessary as our desire for social interaction, companionship and love which is chemicals and hormones enticing us to reproduce. I know that sounds really disenchanting to think of it that way, but that's the science of it.

While we are the most intelligent life form, and able to rationalize things, but our base actions are still ruled by eons of inherited instinct. Ones that would keep us alive in a world where everything out there wanted to eat and maim you as much as you wanted to eat and maim them, and acquire their territory to expand your pool of resources so you would have more to choose from and for your offspring to inherit.

Look at the way America was founded. We fought against the English to establish our territory as our own. Having done that successfully they founders saw what a huge and rich area of land they were plopped on, why not get more... This country was founded on fighting, and the exploitation of the land and its indigenous people. We took what we wanted or bought it cheap and carved out a niche. And look how far America has come in 200 years since then. All of it being driven by the base desire to gain territory, resources, and to drive off all other competitors...if it were not for their urge to kill or strike at another, we would never be here right now, perhaps not communicating in this American made medium (the internet) at all.

Love is not war, and it isn't hard to do. Like I said earlier it's all chemicals and hormones and preprogrammed brain functions. It's one of the easiest things for an animal to do since it usually leads to reproducing. People are picky though just like any animal, they look for things consciously and subconsciously that attract them to someone.....if you're finding it hard to love someone, or get loved by someone, either there is something wrong with you that they don't like, or something wrong with them that you don't like. But for a lot of computer type people it's probably because they...Find Human interaction difficult.... Spend too much time eating Ding Dongs and HoHos while sitting on their butt and turning into a fat greasy slob which only people with certain fat fetishes like.... Mostly the total lack of human to human interaction is probably what does it though. They never learn how to interact without IMs and E-Mail and stammer like a 13 year old when they see a girl regardless of age and maturity, doomed to spend their days eyeballing porn in their darkened room lit only by their CRT monitor screen.

Right, but do you know why? Because above all else, animals are driven to reproduce....and as I stated before, love = physical love = preservation of the species through reproduction. And even the biggest meanest grumpiest animal out there still wants to get its groove on and make some babies.

I agree what YPAWOM is saying, we just cant sit down and be a peaceful world. There will always be conflict no matter what state our government is in. Even the "perfect society" which Karl Marx and Sir Thomas More wrote about wouldnt be able to be achevied. We are human, we will always .. always make a conflict or competition out of anything, no matter how stupid it may seem.

If we get rid of our "freewill" and the scarcety of resources then maybe... just maybe we would be able to live in a world of non conflict....

i think ill shut up now....im screwed... i have no way of getting to school tomorrow.....

Very good point YPAWOM but you too are forgetting a few things. You forget that, some but not all, humans can control their emotions and subconcious messages. Thats one of the things that keeps us from jumping and riding every beautiful girl that walks by. We have the power to change our programming, even though some of us choose not to. If we were all bound by our most primal instincts than why would people choose to stay together after they have children? That is against one of our most primal and powerful instincts of all, the instinct to pass our genes around as much as possible. No other animal mates for life but we do. This alone proves that we are not mere animals. You can not hide behind our animal instincts because we control them, to some extent. To say "We fight because we were predators" is a very cowardly statement, no offense. We have the power to control all of our most animal, and barbaric traits. We do it everyday.
