hi..if anyone has ANYTHING that could help with this id be extremely thankful!

the prob: when i play HL, TFC, CS, anything, online or off, it is horribly laggy. not ping-type lag, but the keys and mouse movements are lagged and jerky, but its only like that in-game, not the choose class or navigating menus...

the comp: xp1700 CPU, ~105* F 1472mHz, 1024mb DDR RAM, ATi Radeon8500 GPU, 7200rpm HD, cable ISP connection

attempted fixes: on server with 34ping, 80fps....tried every resolution with all 3 video modes, no fix,, turned max_fps to 100, 95, 90,85,80,75,70,60, no fix.....reinstalled HL, updated using 1108 patch, no fix, resintalled again, patched with 1106 then 1106to1107to1108, no fix....reinstalled again, patch to 1108 with a newly DLed 1108 update patch, no fix (the ati_hl_fix patch is applied after updating for all them, but thats not the cause)

what i know: its not ping, fps, video mode, and it works fine untill it is updated (freshly installed runs fine)

arrrggg!!! help plz!

much gratitude,
~scm

I had that with certian drivers for my graphics card. Yours is a pretty new card but ya might want to try different versions of drivers for it. Mine would have real bad mouse lag running opengl on one driver and the next it would have mouse lag under d3d. Mine is also a ATI Radeon but the DDR 64

Make sure you don't have any other applications running in the background. Maybe your anti-virus program is running a scan during that time? I've had the same experience as you and once I terminated everything else besides TFC, the game ran as smooth as a baby's bottom!

I had the same prob, set your video option in TFC to OPEN GL and see if that fixes it. It fixed mine when it did that.

I had the same problem with my ati graphics card (rage 128) It would take .5 - 2 seconds for the mouse to respond to any of my movements.
I forget the website, but I think it is something like gametweaks.com choose half life and it will have the option to fix that problem somewhere in there.

Munkeyeye is a great administrator. He takes the time to respond to queries, but, even further, he responded to my December request to put Osaka in the map rotation with an efficiency I found impressive.
