OK, I have discovered that the problem my DOD game is acting really slow is due to my video card. I have a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 which is good, but there seems to be a problem with the drivers, because Halflife says my Video Card doesn't support Open GL, and the other Video Modes really slow me down.
I went to NVidia to download new drivers, but when I did, I couldn't get my screen out of either 600 something or 800 by 600, those were the only two settings, and I could only use Low Bit color. So I rolled back the drivers for the moment being.... Right now with my current driver, I can only use Medium (16 Bit) or High (32 Bit) color... There are no other choices. But I can set my screen to any size.
It says my Bios Information is Version 3.11.0004 under Adapter... and in Properties my Driver Version is 2.9.5.8 When I installed the new drivers this version was 4 something. The Digital Signer right now is Microsoft Windows XP Publisher (I'm using XP operating system)... When I installed the new drivers I think this changed to something else.
Any suggestions? |

Just change it to opengl in the video settings menu, dont pay attention to the message saying its not supported. Then change to your desired resolution and go.
That message is due to the real old halflife engine.
Try the game.. if it works you're fine. IF it doesnt then come back here _________________

Thats what I have done... I change it to OpenGL and I pick the resolution... then I go to internet games, pick a server, and then when I click on it, my screen goes black for a second and then comes back and says that OpenGL isn't supported by my Video Card and so I can't even get into the game unless I pick a different Video Setting which makes playing very hard due to the slowness. |

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_44.03 I'm using this driver and it works great. I have a Geforce 2 which is good and it works great. When ur installing the drivers click continue when they tell u that the driver isn't digitally signed by Microsoft. Do not use the XP drivers ur OS provide because u won't be able to play ur games in opengl. |
